Could someone give us a brief description of the typical ‘red wins mid only cap/decap’ rank farm maps?

Personally not something that really appeals to me (I prefer to earn my rank through competitive gameplay, but understand those that don’t), but might be useful to understand the basics in case I want to farm some loot.

It’s a relatively easy concept. You join one of those lobbies and join a team, after that ( usually in a timeframe of around 5 minutes ) you’ll hear a knocking at your door. Just open it, there’ll be a friendly man demanding your kittens, just hand them over because your right to wear them has been revoked by joining such a lobby with the intent to farm rank. Have fun!

“Fixing” and manipulating matches are against the ToS. Don’t do it…

Rank farms don’t work, they just don’t. They are custom arenas, so the most you can hope for is 500 rank points, which is the same as losing in unranked. Furthermore, if the game is not long enough, there are diminishing returns. You could literally lose 100% of your games in unranked and “farm” rank points faster. The only reason I see for the existence of these arenas is for PvE over-achievers whose brains are set on grinding-mode, and will do anything not to actually play the game. You can also watch a movie during your rank farming.

what are they hurting? they arent getting on the ladderboards, they arent increasing their mmr, and all they are getting is rewards that dont impact spvp at all. no harm no foul.

Even then, those rewards are earned faster in normal arenas… lol.

so why do people care?

Dailies I suppose, a class daily will net you 2 potions of pvp reward, which I believe are 500 each. So a win on a custom arena for the class daily would net you about equal to a win in the arena.
