Exploit or Misconception?
Loosing game to make your MMR bad is match-manipulation.
Forming group with anyone, is simply forming group with anyone.
It’s Anet that need to tuned up the MMR system. 4 Diamond + 1 amber should get ruby team or more… not soloq of amber team.
Top team need to play, top team playing versus casual players/teams is really bad for the “Healthiness” of your player base.

4 diamond + 1 amber is Anets fault period. The system is in place that allows it, and they haven’t hotfixed it so, it’s on them.
That said, top players purposely abusing it knowing it’s going to give them easy matches to farm pips, well they are scum but whatcha gonna do this is an online game.
So If 4 of us Ruby/Sapphire Division people in the guild (because we play a lot more) and qued with our Amber/Emerald guildie (because they do not play often)
is that considered match manipulation?
If not, how is that different from the top tier people when they do it?
Exploit imho.
You always can invite random Amber to your guild and act like its your friend.

So what’s wrong?
So are you telling me having amber or lowered division friends is wrong? So it is illegal to que with them?

Wtf. At this point I have to wonder if you’re trolling or not since apparently everything is an exploit to you. It takes like 1-2 weeks depending on your playtime to get to Sapphire+. If I queue with my buddy who’s been busy with finals or something and as a result is an amber, it’s not a godkitten exploit.
Until ANet puts methods/code in place to prevent this, there is nothing wrong with it.
No call…..No foul.

It takes 2-3 days max to get to Sapphire, at this point I don’t know if you’re trolling or not.
So I’m still in Emerald, and I don’t lose often. Just wanna point that out. I just hate 4 minute queues. Wanna point out you guys and your attempted math show off is just bogus.

You hate 4 minute queques? Fun start once they are going above 10 minutes and matchmaking is throwing you against matchmaking manipulators, because they are the “closest” to you…
It’s why I’m waiting. I’d prefer to be low and get a real climb over that.

Uhh sure. You need what, 25 pips to progress a division? That’s 25 wins unless you get those rare 2 pip games. Assuming each game averages 15 minutes including q times, that’s still around 6 hours of play per division. That’s not including when you get to emerald and can start losing pips.
You might be unfamiliar with this term, but there’s something called “a life”. It consists of things like school. Or work. Or boyfriends. Or girlfriends. Or families. It does not always include sitting around for hours of time trying to grind pips.
So yes, it does take like 1-2 weeks depending on your playtime to get to Sapphire+

Have you ever heard of the phrase: “Some people have lives and jobs outside of gw2”?
Definitely not match manipulation: queue with who you want.
Frankly, it’s not even match manipulation when the Abjured does it. The two real exploits you can do are:
1) Smurfing, meaning getting a second account in a lower division to help your team mates get easy games.
2) Tanking your MMR by losing on purpose when you have no pips in a tier/division.

No you’re trolling, I’ve had limited play times but have been been playing slowly but steadily since league started and I’m emerald. It would take 2-3 days to get sapphire if you pvped all day for thsoe 2-3 days.

There is no solid yes or no to that question without additional information.
There are circumstances where it is perfectly fine. There are circumstances where it is abusing game mechanics (in other words, exploitative).
If this is a random new person you just invited to the guild for the purpose of saying “we’re just a guild group” then it’s exploitative. On the other hand, if this is a person who’s been in your guild for years and you’ve played with them regularly, though uncommonly, for that long, then it’s fine.
Have you created a guild team? If so, are you keeping the team intact over long time periods? Or are you deleting the guild team once the team rating starts to become close to your team’s actual rating and start pitting you against similarly skilled opponents?
Unfortunately, nuance is usually ignored in these discussions.
I’m pretty sure the pros are mostly doing that trick to avoid the 2 hour queues and instead get manageable 2 minute queues.
Especially considering you are stuck doing nothing in the mists while waiting.
