F2P accounts abuse in PvP
just saying they were just bming the newbies, and the matchup system though, im ranked 47 and i ended up in a match full em lol
i don’t think there is any way around it tbh
every f2p games suffers from same issue
you have to think though:
- there will be also a lot of new players that you will face and farm
- vets will eventually get bored of making smurf accnts aka will reach high satiation level at some point

How is this a F2P problem?
The problem being communicated is that the OP was bursted down by a build?

i think his point is that vets know how to deal with burng guards, new players don’t
burning is too strong atm and i can see how newer players have no chance vs such builds played by vets

so today I was faced against and teamed up with 3 burn guardians who queued together. Each had 100-200 AP so obviously they’re new accounts and they would be matched up against people who are new to pvp. well im pretty sure its fun to get bursted with 13 stacks of burn and have the new players get a laugh spam by them
anyways i think there should be a higher lvl requirement for these f2p accounts to enter pvp.
For a new F2P player, to come up with a OP burn guard build, unless they were looking at meta battle, is highly unlikely. Even a veteran MMO player would take more that 2 days to come up with a build like that, and know how to play it. Unless those players were copying straight out of meta battle, but even then it would take a little bit of time to learn how to play it effectively.
My guess is that a couple of vets got free accounts, rolled up burn guards just to troll people in PvP. I am sure you weren’t the only one who saw it was a low AP account, with a lower level player and thought “easy prey” and weren’t prepared for what they could do.

I think you misunderstand him.
He’s saying that veterans making new accounts will ruin the experience for people who are actually new to the game. New players will be matched up against veterans on new accounts, get destroyed and laughed at, and dislike the game. He’s offering the suggestion of increasing the level requirement to play PvP so that veterans are less likely to spend the time making new accounts to troll with.
and now guess how many “veterans” will do this… it’s a waste of time and they won’t do this for a long time.
Yeah, I’d expect this as a short-time fad. They won’t make new accounts constantly to hit low MMR because it’d be wasted efforts for the most part.

ya i was just saying the smurf accounts are kinda ruining the experience of newer players. and as for the burn guard supporters it is always nice to return the burn stack back to the guard with arcane thievery. Then again the skill is kinda buggy lol.

what he said lol
I’d expect this to quickly become a non-issue. If you just want to destroy noobs, you could go hotjoin whenever you choose, and then you get to keep the rewards/gold. The only valid reason to create a smurf account is if you are one of the 0.05% of players who have such high MMR that match-making takes 20-40 mins.
Plus, newer players usually aren’t so sensitive about being destroyed, and might just be tempted to try out that class instead.

My bad. Maybe it was the wording, but it sounded like he got rekt by some smurf accounts and was upset.
Although raising the lvl cap for PvP will lead to less vet trolling, it also restricts new players. Although we have no way of knowing, I am sure that at least some of the new F2P accounts were picked up by PvPers wanting to check out the game. I know I would have. I tend to do that when picking out/up a new game. I’ll check for a demo/free version and check out what interests me about it. If it’s something I enjoy, I’ll lay down the money for it.
I am sure I am not the only one who does that.
Restricting PvP for those interested in PvP would do more to discourage them from actually buying the full game then anything.
In any event, I don’t think that vet trolling will be a “thing”. Right now, it’s the novelty of it. And something different to pass the time. After awhile, vets will go back to their main accounts, and the noobs will be in peace once again.

It’s called Smurfing.
People who are much better at the game make a new account in order to be matched with new, unskilled players, just so they can stomp them with their superior experience at the game.
A lot of competitive f2p games have this problem. But in games like LoL atleast if you make a fresh smurf account you don’t have any champs or runes, so atleast you suffer some effectiveness.
But in GW2 and the way it’s pvp is set up you get all the effectiveness the moment you log in, and there is nothing that seperates a new account from a veteran account.

They don’t have any MMR yet, this game does NOT have a new player “bracket MMR”. So with all the new players you WILL get matched with them.
Whether they are smurfs or not, i could not say. But MANY people know and recommend metabattle and guardian burst burn is extremely easy to play.
So chill…
