Here’s my idea:
Score from captured points reflects the # of people per team.
For example in a 4 v5, the team with 4 people would get and additional 50% per capture point, 3v5 maybe 75% extra for the duration of imbalanced numbers.
This would give an incentive to keep trying in the case of a 4v5 and to at least try and defend when 3v5
Thoughts?

The solution is to fix getting 4v5 in the first place, or just remove hotjoin.

Well, Hotjoin isnt getting removed, nor should it imo, its a game mode for casual play.
Im not sure its possible to completely avoid 4v5’s in a casual atmosphere ( though they could mitigate spectate abuse easily enough), as they can’t keep players from coming/going.
But that dosen’t mean that they should give up on simple mechanics that promote balanced\fair gameplay

but we’re giving human sPvP builds to a PvE bot to behave as a bunker in the event of a 4 vs 5 situation.

what if it has the potential to perform bunker rotations much better than humans?

in the even of a
2 vs 1
3 vs 2
4 vs 3
5 vs 4

it would only rush and camp the home point.

Bahaha yes pls add a npc bunker guard or even dd ele to just sit on home. Ppl will probably actually die to this as I’ve seen countless amounts of players getting laid out by Svanir and chieftain and even the npcs in the hotm.

Lol… I use hotjoin to test new builds, and get used with rotations and skills, I never go there expecting to win games. If my team win, better, otherwise, it’s fine too.

Should be AH guardian instead.
I recently went back to AH guardian from playing med guardian.
Lemme tell you, as an med guardian I was dropping off the leaderboard fast.
Now that I’m playing AH guardian, I’m soaring up the leaderboard chain.
Having an AH guardian on your team is has a huge impact on your winning percentage because they so useful. Able to stack up that might in team fights, bunkering nodes, buffing everybody in team fights and curing conditions.

Why on earth would you not have an AH guardian on your team.
I’d be happy if I got a 4v5 game and had an AH guardian AI be acting as the 5th player, he’d probably do better than a live player anyways.

I think the EU team that’s going to WTS has an AH guardian and the NA team doesn’t. I already know whose going to win those games. I’d be willing to wager China is running an AH guardian on there team too. You have to be stupid not to have one on your team.

Don’t take serious amount of skills to play AH guardian, just bring protection up, stack up that might on your team, than when you notice the other team is pouncing on your team or you like a mad dog with all those condi’s and burst damage, that’s when you spam all your utilities and virtues and go for elite virtue renewal and spam your virtues again and use focus to get invulnerable and pray your team is pounding them just as hard. Also, gotta love that bubble knockback from rezzing downed teammate. AH guardian is awesome, love playing it, so much fun watching other team get mad because your team is getting pounded so hard and looks like the other team won but then all sudden your team makes a comeback in the fight and now with crazy amounts of buffs too.

Hot join matches are easy to win if you can get a large enough gap at the start of the match. I usually do this when I care to win.

As a software developer myself I do see this as a viable option. Let’s face it you cannot strictly penalize someone for leaving a match. There isn’t any way to tell if it was intentional or some random disconnect. This option could be called a boost or bonus and would be very easy to implement. If said player returns then the boost could be removed. However getting the correct amount of bonus would take plenty of trial and error as you have to include variables to determine the correct algorithm or formula for % boost. An issue that could arise from a boost system would be a game where you and a friend playing together on same team. Your team is losing, so friends quits game to give your team a boost to compensate for the team not playing well. And the next time you do your friend a favor by quitting. I do like where this is going with a boost system since it would be a great method to implement. Other options I have seen to address this issue of being outnumbered is when a player leaves, the system would bring in another player that is waiting in que. Let’s imagine the team is losing terribly and the game is two thirds over…what justification or motivation does the player have when joining a team that isn’t performing well together?

Btw doesn’t WvW provide boosts to realms who has a low pop of players compared to the other realms? —Not sure about this, but I do believe I have seen it before.

I wonder how powerful a necro/engi team with a guardian providing them stability and cleaning condis off engi would be…add in an ele and 1 other…just a scenario been running thru my mind.

Nice to have an expert confirm this woudn’t be one of those impossible to implement features that are often demanded by players:D

The worse a game mode becomes the less players expect of it youknowwhatimeanXD.
It is a competitive environment so out of respect for that, Anet could implement simple measures to help create fair play.

As to the proff for AI stand in, it would have to LB ranger or Turret Eng (in team q could be swapped to AH guard or ele/eng), don’t know how you guys are even arguing this point ^-^
