Necromancer/Casual Warrior
[Team] Best WvW guild of all time. EASILY.
Do you use it and why?
I use it but might turn it off (as a necro with staff and s/d). The problems I find with it are that it is harder vs classes like other necros because there the speed matters less than making sure you land a few key spells. However vs eles and thieves it seems essential to have this fast ground targeting on.
There are pros and cons. Anyone got any they can think of?
I don’t have anymore issue to land my AoE spell with Fast Cast.
I used too, but as you use it, you just know the AoE radius without seeing it.
I personally can’t return to normal AoE anymore.
I never used it until last week. I turn it on while playing my thief and find that it helps me be more mobile at a faster pace. It took some getting used but I like it.
I still leave it off when playing Guardian or Ele because I like to still see exactly where the AoE ‘bubble’ is, but with my thief I’ve definitely noticed it has improved my mobility speed.
I use it personally because of the time savings it provides.
Also, I like using grenades on my Engineer…
I dont use it, sometimes I like to queue up the toggle and wait for the precise moment to drop it
I turned it on when using thief.
It’s more efficient for Shadowstepping/IA/CB.
i used fast targeting for a while… until i started playing a necro and engi in pvp
i always have it on, and wish i could hold down shift to temporarily turn it off for certain moments
it is almost a must on thief.
but i think everyone has his own playstyle
i used it with staff and also on S/D i know the radius of all my skills . u re faster than without this
I use it, because clicking is slower. Your movement becomes more fluid and the playingfield is less cluttered.
Biggest con: you can’t see the maximum range of abilities, so you must rely on your knowledge of their range and aoe size.
Sometimes your aim can be off without the visual indicator, and you’ll cast on a closer object in the environment. Or you reach too far, the ability won’t go off: you saved cd, but you might be too slow with the second cast.
The game is very intuinitive, though, but new players might want to turn it off when playing an unfamiliar class.

Definately using it. It’s way faster than normal ground targeting, all you need is just to get used to your aoe’s radius since you cast centered on the pointer without being able to see the effective radius, you just have to figure it out by yourself…at the beginning i used to cast some chaos storms a bit out of targets but after some practice no problem on casting aoes under running targets too, dunno how it feels with necro but with thief, guardian and mesmer i’m fine with it and i really don’t need to go back to ground target.

I use it when i feel like i’m having a “bad” mouse control day or if i notice i miss alot of ground target abilities or if i have some very important precision abilities that might not require to be as fast but missing can cause huge issues
Playing as a trap ranger, it feels almost necessary to throw traps in succession accurately while strafing.
And that trickled down into using it on all other classes.
As melee war, I do not use it because I am always spinning the camera and the location of the mouse is unknown.
