Fear not, the balance is here!
You heard me, let’s stop the crying for 3 more days and talk abou the positives. With a forum like this, we’re scaring away new players who wants to read about pvp.
Big balance patch Dec 1st! HEADS UP.
confirmed on stream?
leaked dev deleted tweet screencht from flicr account of one of cleaners ex-wife?
We already had big balance patch lol
After 3 years of terrible PvP support from Anet, I think this is exactly the way new players should read about it first. All the tournaments make the game look like there aren’t any problems and new players will fall for that.
Much as I want to support ANet and all they do, they have been blindly pursuing E-Sports when they should have been focused on making the game fun.
I would rather them take a hit, realize the blind sight that pursuing E-Sports is, than them being successful and thinking that this current model is working.
Sometimes it takes losing money financially before businesses start thinking about the right ways to move forward as a company.
Where is this coming from? I know we get leagues on dec. 1st, but a balance patch? Haven’t heard about that.

General Bug Fixing, Polish, Balance, Performance, Etc.
As we continue to monitor Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns™ on live, we’ll keep pushing out bug fixes and polish and performance updates. We’ve reached a point where these will come bundled together in larger, less frequent updates as we prepare for the activation of additional expansion features. We’ll also be releasing limited balance updates to fix really key game-breaking issues. Once every quarter, we’ll release a new, major balance update to shake up the meta for the next quarter.
On December 1, once we’ve finalized all the teams that qualify for the ESL Guild Wars 2 Pro League and we have a chance to let balance settle from the launch of our expansion, we’ll activate our inaugural in-game Player vs. Player league season!
Balance WILL come, sooner or later.
If it’s not Dec. 1st (most probably isn’t) then it will be later down the line.
Crying was heard, feedback was given, tears were spilled, and dragonhunters were called braindead. Really, this forum did all it could possibly do.
Now we just wait.
COLIN TAKE THE WHEEL
What better place than here? What better time than now?

It would be pretty sad to introduce pvp leagues without a balance first, at least. Wanna reach top of the ladderboard? Roll anything besides thief and warrior.

Well I’m pretty sure the original plan was to launch the balance patch two weeks before the start of proleague, to give time to the players to absorb the changes – and that didn’t really happen.
So really now it’s a 50/50 chance between us getting a big balance patch on Dec. 1st that will shake the meta and screw over the pro players, or us not getting jack kitten until the next season. Call me negative, but I kinda lean on the latter.

I couldn’ agree more with you. 50/50, make it happen!
forgive me if i don’t jump aboard the hype train again…

Usually, i agree with this but….I don’t know really. Anet is one of the most stubborn companies I’ve ever come across.
I may consider stopping my complaints when Anet actually stops being lazy and brings skill back to pvp.
When you constantly power creep everything in the game since launch instead of ever nerfing anything you eventually come to a screeching halt.
Player health pools have never been increased, yet our damage creeps up and up and up.
Stability was made useless ages ago, since anet couldn’t figure out how to distribute stability evenly across all classes …. and now, every class has access to absurd amounts of cc.
What you have is a giant clusterkitten where no skill is involved.
Whoever starts the cc lockdown first will win the fight after one rotation.
Forget about fighting 2v1’s anymore.
Anet’s goal was to make pvp more attractive to pve players…. and what they did was make it so anyone can come into pvp with a copy-pasted build and smash their face on the keyboard and win as long as they burn their cooldowns first.
esports.
Not to sound un-appreciative, but the whole Esports thing is really boring for me. Just give us an ad-hoc, in game, mini-tourney system and I will be happy with that. Who has the time to follow the Esports scene? Kinda boring, and I work and have a baby.
Core GW2 and WvW are awesome. Focus on those more. Expand PvP for the average Joe Shmoe that works 9-5, as well. More modes and maps. Why not bring back GW1 style 16v16 conquest with keeps and several more capture points, etc, etc.
Illustrious Exhausted Primordial Legendary Druid, and Mesmer for fun
PvE | PvP (1500)| WvW | Fractals | Dungeons
Can’t wait to see what tooltips they fixed this time

This, the last ‘balance’ patch didn’t adress any problems :’(
+1
This is a important patch.
Getting leagues of to a good start is vital, a solid patch with the right fixes and tweaks.
**And more tooltips fix
(…)our damage creeps up and up and up.

This about sums up why I currently dislike the game.
Honestly, it feels like everything in HoT was designed for PvE, and PvP and WvW were considered acceptable sacrifices.
They introduce break bars, so they need to give all classes decent abilities to deal with those. Hence all the CC.
98 percent of PvE content is entirely DPS focused, so in order to incentivize expansion sales they jack up the damage on elite specs.
In contrast, adding alternative play styles (of equivalent strength) to existing professions would have been plenty motivation for PvP/WvW players to buy HoT.

I highly doubt they will do a big balance patch in the middle of league. That just as stupid as not balancing before league….
Once every 3 months? That is pathetic.
The amount of stun’s they added is going to directly effect there retention rate. If you have played any mmorpg that released lately you have already seen this kill multiple games. (like archeage as an example) while you might see a temporary spike in your metric’s. ( you where going to see this from the expansion anyway) i can almost guarantee it will destroy the retention rate your so proud off.
those builds have no longevity, you get sick of them fast because they take control from the player. that is a huge mistake in a video game, one that is becoming more and more common.
Yeah well I was expecting a balance patch on the 17th as well and i got nothing.
