I’ll start it off by saying I’m not the best at PvP, though I am steadily trying to get better. These are mostly things I noticed my guildies talking over and experiencing myself. Anyway,

They stated that this season is mostly centered around “personal skill and contribution”. This leads me to the question of, why, when you lose, do you still lose skill rating, if you personally did well that match? A loss is a loss sure, but if a player does well it should either give them a small increase based on how well they did, or simply neutralize any form of decay. It completely combats the purpose that was stated for this season. “You did terrific that match, he’s your prize, the same division with but lower!

Second thing I noticed is stacking, lots of it. A majority of my games that I played tonight, on both my side or the enemies, had a large number of one class. Primarily Necros, but that was just tonight. Anyway, my point is, are there any plans to reduce a team to having one class? There could be say, 2 necros, but one on each team. With only being able to duo queue (or quad queue with chance), and having no idea what your team comp actually consist of, or the enemy team for that matter, wouldn’t it make more sense to “limit” the field? I f you stack one class, there’s no balance to the already lack of balance. I stated Necros, because when they are stacked, the amount of condi clease in the game couldn’t help a team. So if you have multiple stacking on a point, what chance do you have?

Which brings me to my question because I know that stacking will forever happen. How do you counter that? I play a necro myself, primarily as a source to assist my buddy who plays a guardian. Most people don’t work as a team and are more interested in the chase, than the points, so what can the two of us do, to neutralize enemies that are stacking, such as druid or necro stacks? I tried looking for a few guides to try and find a good duo team build, but I’ve failed in my search.

My personal advice to your question would be this: Try building on each others strengths.

What i rarely see at the moment are AoE buff Counters for example, you rarely see projectile counters as well.

Both things available to a necromancer.

A Guardian has a good amount of team support that can counter a lot of pressure.
As a DH he could try to build on damage with some support thrown in via traps and some other utility skills.

The ultimate question is what you want to achieve with your duo-Queue.

Necro/auramancer. Run the group stunbreak trait and shout to unlock the necro.

Your guildies are only partially correct. Personal skill and contribution only carries you so far. You also need to have a well-rounded team and coordinate strategy and target calling.

Know what role your build should be doing (team fights vs. solo, damage vs. support/bunker, etc). Watch the map and don’t stagger with your team, especially if you’re a team fight build. Resist the urge to be greedy for the third node when you have two secure.

Class stacking will likely never be changed – mostly because it’s not a problem; it’s a symptom of builds with a low skill threshold which are over-performing at low and medium skill levels (dragonhunter being the primary example).

At higher levels, you tend to see a more rounded set of classes anyway. Typically an ele for team fight support, a necro for team fight damage, a mesmer or thief to fight side points, a medi DH or scrapper to fight side points, etc.

Condi warrior and trap DH are popular because they perform well with a low skill threshold. Condi necro can melt teams if left alone, but are also drop quickly when focused.
