Feeling of futility in sPvP
1) Sometimes simply neutralizing a point is enough. By all means capture it if you can but sometimes you can use the neutralization as bait to split larger forces you can’t otherwise break head on. This helps the team more than I think most give due credit.
2) It’s chaos and very hard to decipher everything that’s going on all at once. Unless the directive is obvious I suggest hanging back a couple seconds to get a grasp on what is happening and then jumping in on the most advantageous opportunity present.
3) Always keep moving. If you see a point you can’t break, call out what you see and move on to something else.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
Try free tournaments. They are usually much less frustrating than hotjoin, though not always. Surprisingly, free tourneys are an overall better choice for newer PvPers. It’s best if you can join as a premade, but I even enjoy queueing up solo and trusting my luck in a pug much more than playing a hotjoin.
Free tournaments are a better place to play as its much less zergy. Not always mind, but you do tend to get a better game going. Quite a few more 1 vs 1s as well, which is perfect for actually playing your class instead of spamming everything in vain hope something sticks.
As for your points, if you find a point thats empty, cap it and move on. If its retaken, thats one of their team that has to wait with it whilst you can scout out somewhere else to grab some points. Roaming is better than holding a point unless you are built to hold points.
8v8 is worthless for anything other than warming up or testing a new build or class.
You also dont need a full team to make a difference either, just finding a buddy who can go with you, and make both your builds compliment each other. Few times on my ranger I went with a thief who was VERY bursty, but I can take a lot of damage as well as pumping out nice condi damage. You can make quite a difference even with just a little team work.
