Finally played for placement
|||Necro the masterclass very few know about.|||
Be thankful you placed that high, a lot of people with 7-3 or 6-4 like you but placed bottom bronze or silver, seen threads/scores like yours and left the game.
….. And Elementalist.
I got a lot of top stats in those wins and the pugs were good so it worked out i guess. Still feels like pvp is not as great as it used to be. The more restrictive anet is the worse it gets. They could have done things differently with the groups que and not shunned all the stronghold players away. I still get the feeling Anet just hates PvP and doesn’t want it to work out. Wvw has become boring as of late and pvp has been worse off as of season 5.

Thats because their rating last season was garbage. Either way, shouldn’t take too long progressing up to atleast plat 1 (which is where you’re starting to face decent players in the first place).
The elo-hell isn’t real. If you can’t carry your weight of of bronze, that’s where you belong.
Yeah I don’t believe in Elo hell either BUT you need a significant amount of games to carry yourself out of Bronze/Silver/Gold. That is to say it is quite difficult to have a really strong impact as a class with limited mobility. You can 1v2 for quite some time on point, but that doesn’t help if your team is fighting/dying for bosses or somewhere off point. As Duo Queue your chances might be better because you have the capability to watch 2 points.
Its a grind if you are placed low. To pull you out you need to play war/mes/thief (high mobility/map control) to a very high skill level maybe (platin +) or you will grind at a 55-60% winrate even if you are a good player deserving gold or low plat.

Do you actually believe that this season? I’m in Gold and I’ve knocked people from Silver back to bronze just because MM couldn’t match me with other Golds…. Same goes with higher players, those platinum kittens have knocked me back into Silver a few times, Naru/Vallun did it to me last season too…..

See this is where anet has failed. They make a map “Competitive” even tho it isn’t the play style it should be for “Competitive” pvp. Competitive pvp isn’t a Circle Jer* in middle all game to see who zergs who. Deathmatch or stronghold would have been better suited for competitive play but Anet must be hyping up for a new expansion or something to not care enough to actually fix problems.

Yes and no, some games are completly unwinnable. One in particular that comes to mind is Vaanss + Xomi duo together with Thijsken + (insert high rated player here due to memory loss) duo against myself, with similar rating, my duo partner with similar rating a low gold duo queue and some random.
Either way, if you carry your own weight you will win more than you lose.

I want to say one thing only. In bronze, you dont carry your weight. You carry atleast two players weight. Because even if u won all 1v1s and hold cap whole time while fighting, it isnt enough for your team to win.
So you have to be in teamfights and win those, in order to carry your team.

But it´s not enjoyable if 40% of your matches are lost regardless what you do.
Alone that i play in low silver struggling to keep over 50% while i have not a single loss in gold when i duo tells a lot.
Sad but i played over 300 games last season, now i am at about 20 …

I know your trying for this “Competitive” pvp but with conquest it just doesn’t work i’m sorry. Trying to carry a bad pug or 2 on your shoulders in conq is quite hard, hell team death match is more suited for that. I may play a ranked game or 2 now and then to keep up but my love of pvp has been crushed. After 4 seasons of Diamond or Legendary and having fun in stronghold ranked you have killed my interest in pvp. Well done.
Capture point, or " conquest " is actually very tactical, and carrying is actually possible until a certain rank in theory. Actual builds are the issue, since they’re making it possible to " kill " and " defend " at same too efficiently, which ruins a bit of the strategy.
yes builds (and classes) make a large diffrence for carry. Since i main ele i have a hard time to carry bad players while i enjoyed to play wit hgood ones. It was a relive and opened my eyes last season when i did see the positional play and doding of good ones. I could actually fully use my potential and not loose a single match :-/. In low silver it´s RNG.
I actually decided to train war and thief again to get me out but it´s not fun to force players into classes. It actually will lose more players then they will start multiclassing And i mean training other classes to an apropriate level. This is something 90% of the playerbase simply won´t do. So a system that supports multiclassing is a bad idea. This is also one reason i voted to lock professions. Swaping is mainly used to counter oposing team comp.
Got placed into low silver, doing babysteps to climb up. Some games are just not possible to carry. Sure if you’re top player you might climb faster, but average good player with some average awareness and game understanding is seriouslykittenked. It’s basically 50:50 whether you win or lose. You skills can add up to maybe 15% in favour of wins.

Lol what? As soon as you hit gold t2 you frequently face players in platinum tier 1 and 2. You face top tier players far earlier than platinum 1.
I’ve personally faced and lost against NOS several times in gold tier 2, and his rating is near rank 1 with 1900+
