Please can Anet fix Finishers for PvP. It gets VERY annoying when i get downed, i port away and am in stealth and they finish me when not being near me, facing the other direction and through stealth. Its happened ALOT today

Its like if i cant get into the port before they start the “Finish” no matter what direction i port to i STILL get finished. They need to either fix the range you can finish someone from or increase it, whats the point of a teleport when downed along with stealth if neither of them protect you.

Does anyone else experience this? If so what have you done to try and fix it like waiting until they nearly finish the stomp and then port? Coz everything i have tried hasnt worked.

It would be a bit silly, in my opinion, that you would need to face perfectly the direction of your enemy to finish them.

The example being that you “step” on your enemy and initiate the finisher. However you can’t because he’s more in your back than at your front.

Also, teleport farther away. That’s all I can say to help.

Its the auto teleport from Mesmer downed state, you cant pick where you port its random.

heres an Example: I was in Waterfall capture point, I got downed and pressed teleport or what ever it is called. I was ported behind him a few feet away while he was doing the finisher move facing the other way and i was several feet away and in stealth and outside the capture point itself – Yet i was still killed by the Finisher.

I wouldnt mind it as much if i could teleport where i want like the Thief one (iirc) but i cant, and other times it will port me right next to where i was downed – They should add a min distance and a max distance that the port will teleport you to

You can’t be stomped in stealth. Either you attacked and broke the stealth early or ported too soon during the animation and came out of stealth just before the end of the stomp. Nothing to fix. You need to time your port better.

Thats the point – IF you have to port before they start the Finisher doesnt that make it kinda pointless? I mean if you port during it and get killed (i do ALOT) why bother porting at all if you are only going to get killed by it anyway.

It SHOULDNT be that i have to port before they start the stomp. If i port away it should break the stomp not allow them to continue it and kill me anyway. Like i said I think a good way to fix this – Increase the distance that Mesmers travel to when they teleport and make it BREAK the stomp.

I mean look at Guardians – someone starts to stomp and they use the AoE pushback that person cant continue the stomp and kill them (unless they have stability?) same with Necro they start the stomp you use fear and they run = stomp broken. Yet Mesmer, You teleport away and are invisible and yet still can (not always) but still enough for it to be annoying are killed the moment they finish the stomp

You don’t port before they start the stomp, you port right before they finish it. As in cast in the middle of the stomp. Not right at the beginning. Mesmer has one of the strongest downstates. Can’t be blinded, can’t be blocked. Only stealth, and then you can still cast it on others near by. As long as there is a target for you to cast on you can stealth. Guardian’s and Warrior’s can be countered with blinds, stability or aegis.

A Mesmer being jealous of a Necro down state… is this the twilight zone?

everyone should be jealous of necro downstate. If you run a minion build it takes more than one person to finish you, even if you do not trait for extra damage in downstate the damage output is ridiculous. Minions do not die when you are downed they keep attacking the target + the fear you inflict by the time they go for the second stop they are in a down state themselves. In my opinion it needs to be changed. You can have up to 2 fears in your downstate, one when you get downed and the 2 skill That is more than enough time to kill someone.. The poison well + minions + 1 auto skill at the same time is a killer + you get health regen in downstate from auto 1. BTW this is with out traiting 50% more damage in downstate.

I’d much prefer to port away from someone instead of having to interrupt them. Blind, aegis, stability all trump my 2 skill. At least you can often get away from that.

Thats the point i use it during the stomp and they STILL continue the stomp and finish me. Other times i have used it before they start to get out of AoE and it moves me all of a few centimeters. I am talking SOLELY on the Teleport it is VERY ineffective at times. One time it will port you away and thats fine, other times it will port you right next to where you were and are killed and then the times it ports you away and behind someone while they are doing it and it still kills you, Its VERY unreliable.

To the point where you have to prey that it works like it should. A simple fix would be to make it BREAK the finish which it currently doesnt do and give a MIN distance that it ports you to – gets VERY annoying getting ported all of a few centimeters

I’m saying, done right that can not happen. Don’t break the stealth, time it right and they will just stab the ground. As for the aoe, it’s an effective way to kill squishes in downstate. You are asking for a buff to one of the strong downstates. Not going to happen. You are not suppose to be a god in downstate. While its not controllable like thief’s or vapour form like ele’s it’s still better then the rest. But thief’s is a port only so can be stolen to, judge’s, lightning flash or other teleports and ele’s can be followed. No one has a perfect downstate. There is no fix needed. Rarely do warrior’s, guardian’s, necro’s, engie’s or ranger get off interrupts on decent players. If there is no blind’s, stability, aegis or invulns available it will still be dodged. Dodging costs a few seconds but its quicker then waiting for a mes to unstealth.

You can’t blind, stability, aegis or invuln stomp a mesmer. Play a different class and get some perspective and you’ll see why there won’t be buffs.

Maybe, but the fact that it doesnt break the stomp is VERY stupid considering other classes downstate does (Guardian, Necro) again only talking about the ability to stave off death not the attacks or anything.
