I mean, I just did unlock/forge the Wings of Ascension, and despite the particle effects are cool, this item doesn’t provide a true light source, like the Fractal Capacitor or the Fires of Balthazar backpack.

There’s not a lot of places where those light sources do bring help (mostly some dungeons/puzzles), but seems absurd that you can get the Fires of Balthzar in a weekend and get that nice feature whereas you need weeks of effort to achive the Wings of Ascension, in which is absent. Also, the legendary PvP backpack doesn’t provide any form of step signature. Seems wrong to me, like a Fiat 500 having more HP than a Ferrari…

But, I hear ya. Both ascended and the legendary back-pieces look kinda over the top and distracting. But, the ascended backpiece will look neat w/ hellfire armor and the legendary one should be left alone for a glider on a female toon.

Isn’t “over the top” and “distracting” the whole point of legendaries in the first place?

What dungeon do you need a light source in? Only 2 places I can think of of the top of my head are the LA JP and the WvW JP.

The fractal in the snow, some areas in the Entangled Deeps HoT map, and a few puzzles here and there…

I known that is a “first world problem”, but to me seems absurd to unlock the wings and kept it for the statistics but then going to transmute them because they don’t add value to some areas of the game like low tier items alerady easily available.

That’s a very… specific problem

I have a flaming sword for such problems, and the torch of Kryta.

I agree, but at this point it’s a pretty small issue in the scheme of things. I’d rather see them stop the season, and fix the issues.

Yeah I agree #FirstWorldProbs and all that but the main problem for me is that the Elite Wings of Glory style, of almost ‘stained glass on fire’ looks EPIC and then as soon as you upgrade to the Legendary version its back to Anet’s favourite Feathery Wings version 703_rev4.png

If it wasn’t for the pointless need to show off my kitten to people on an MMO that neither care nor will remember, I’d keep my Elite Wings of Glory equipped full time.

Equip the Elite Wings of Glory, and use the legendary backpack as a glider skin. There, best of both worlds

I would still use the legendary backpiece skin over Fires.

…It’s more of an accomplishment thing for me to show off, and I often find Fires of Balthazar difficult to skin with, those colors….
