I know this is already a point well made on these here forums, just thought I’d hammer that point home.
I had no prior experience to using a Mesmer in PvP. I have a lvl 80 Mesmer but I only ran her through the games storyline, never done anything competitive with her. I was struggling in PvP a lot as a Ranger lately (mostly because I am hugely incompetent at it, even though i’ve mained the class for a year and a half now) so I figured I’d change class, find a burst build, and my god is this good. First battle I had I one-shotted a Ranger, then I defeated a guardian in seconds, took out a couple of warriors easily and progressed from there. I was killing people without even realising it. Stupidly Over-powered. Think before you make a supposed “balance change” next time Anet.
“Oh but Potato Mesmers can finally compete in PvP now, you notice us more finally and people don’t like it and should find a new way to adapt to us.” Listen right, I main a Ranger. I know the pain of being kitten. But theres a difference to “being able to compete” and “kitten all of you immediately we win.” I had never played a Mesmer before in PvP and I did the best I had ever done over any class I have PvP’ed in.

Look I don’t need to prove myself and I’m not screaming lol. Go join a PvP game, play a Mesmer with a burst build on and tell me they’re not OP. I’m not having a go at your beloved profession or actively trying to remove you from top tier PvP again, the game is unbalanced atm in extreme ways and I’m sure many professions are going to get nerfed. I also found it stupidly funny.

It is not about my “beloved” profession. I actually don’t have an agenda and also have been advocating Mesmer nerfs in the past and now. But I try to be specific instead of what you are doing: Screaming “fire”, without indication, where the fire is.

Your just saying mesmer too op on a basis that you one shotted a few guys… Many people run dps build these days and are really squishy, some are testing builds they don’t know about, others are simply bad or new or have no idea on how to fight a mesmer.
I’m not saying you’re wrong, there are problems to address right now such as PU mesmer with insane burst dmg, backstab thief who can dish 20k in less than 3 sec and the burning plague, but you have a very wrong and very subjective way of approaching the subject and it kitten people off because you’re not bringing any empirical facts.
“Just roll on a mesmer and play a shatter build” I hear you say, and I’ll tell you that in a 1v1 there isn’t any mesmer who took me down in one shot, it hasn’t happen in the two weeks of the new patch and I highly doubt it will happen now… But it’s subjective, because I run a highly sustainable build with insta heals and high defense, does it void the problem?no because other classes are struggling g too hard. Should anyone face roll a mesmer? No either. There are class and builds who aren’t meant to beat other class or builds
But is it as godmode as some people claim it to be? No. It’s just more noticeable, not ONLY because of the mesmer buff (many things remain mostly the same) , but because of the amulet buff.
We trained fully in a line that gave us condi duration and boon duration, with 4 in a power condi dmg line and 4 other on a ferocity and precision with zerker that had vitality on it at the time
It mitigate A Lot of dmg compare to today where we just slot offensive stats
I can drop people in a few seconds as a Power Necro in this meta, Thieves especially. I even say sorry a few times in say chat after it happens because sometimes it just feels wrong. Or did the enemy horribly misplay? Who knows, the point is, Mesmers aren’t the only Prof right now capable of ending someone in seconds.

Line up the Ranger weapon/trait/utility/elite/f1-4, and damage/support to a Engineer, Ele, Mesmer, Guard, Warrior and the Ranger is a joke. Hell even a Necro can tank with little damage outgoing but still be able to transfer conditions, control, and strip boons making their target prime meat for the dmg spikes by party.
I’m not saying nerf X profession, but throw the Ranger bone once in awhile. Mesmer can make a Ranger main drool with all the goodies up that sleeve.

I had same feeling when playing turret engie with no experience before that nerf pop turrets just smash autoattack and win

Prior to patch I ran engie for the first time and recorded it. Was a mindless key smash roflestomp for maximum effect. No idea what I was doing except firing off every cd I could find- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBzZu5KPfQU
Did the same thing with Ranger, zerk staff ele (many many moons ago), and right before the changes- Necro. Hell, I’ve even run a ton of roaming DPS kshot war. All turned out to be full power, no skill, “ez-mode” slash and burn experiences of utter destruction of the other team. What did this mean? That Ranger, Zerk Staff Ele, and Necro were stupid OP just because I destroyed everything I faced on my first time out? Get real.
You think you’re experiencing something unique with Mesmer post patch. This was happening with other classes pre patch, and that’s without the across the board increase in power. Your experience means nothing.

I agree the lock down chain from stealth is too strong. It just makes too easy to land a super long damage combo chain. But you definitely understand it wrong if you think you die to one single shatter combo spike.
I have similar experience, I didn’t play mesmer much before the patch and sucked on it. I tried to play it now to see how much changed and I did way better. I feel like mesmer got a lot easier than what it used to be prior patch, maybe too easy.

My apology if it’s my misunderstanding.
Shatter combo for me means mirror blade + F1 + GS3. This one does the most damage out of any mesmer skill combo.
And this combo does comparable damage to ranger rapid fire 2. I think this is a very fair comparison. Skills are of similar cooldowns and take similar amount of time to complete.
To get hit by 20k, you must have been hit by both F3 + F1 + izerker combo.
Everything is super easy to play right now anyway. I haven’t seen or a tested a single build that requires skill or a brain since the patch. You just either go full glass and one shot people by pressing random buttons or you go full condi tank and soak up all the damage while doing ridiculous passive burn damage.

Just go do some testing. Your feeling is always deceiving. Mesmer always had a strong burst but it was much harder to land pre-patch compare to now.
After patch, suddenly mesmer can reliably land their burst. So players start to feel the pain.
Speaking of Rangers, I think this patch has tried to nudge all classes into certain roles and playstyles, and the Ranger is not meant to be purely an archer, but is instead crafty, dodging a “woodsman” melee/range hybrid, with a pet that is essential to the full attack package.

Just go do some testing. Your feeling is always deceiving. Mesmer always had a strong burst but it was much harder to land pre-patch compare to now.
After patch, suddenly mesmer can reliably land their burst. So players start to feel the pain.
i have done plenty of testing while dueling frosty pre-patch
Every class has had someone come in and say they facerolled with the class during their first time playing it. It is never accurate and never constructive. All it shows is that the person complaining doesn’t have experience with that profession.
That said, I totally faceroll playing thief to the point where I’m considering wearing a blindfold to make it marginally more challenging.
