First SoloQ Since Reset
this reset is just kittened. taking way too long to ‘settle.’
haha this was my first match since the reset too, im the ranger :P
Wait a week or two for the good ones to climb up. Only then will I play to have a chance to kind of farm those stuck on the low MMR or those level ones and twos for consecutive wins.
later. It doesn’t care that I’m there.”
I’ve been in the solo queue today for the first time. Rank 4 and getting my butt kicked.
I’m confused.. since the game already knows our ranks, why does it take time for the system to “settle”? Is it ignoring rank for matchmaking purposes? Only looking at recent wins/losses?
Qaelyn,
Actually MMR is used for the match. Not PvP ranks. There may be some correlation with skill and PvP rank, but due to the Skyhammer free rank exploits that went on for months, a high rank doesn’t really mean you played well or have any PvP skills.
A low rank has more meaning. But even there, some higher rank people had a second account they use for testing SoloQ…and it is typically quite a low PvP rank.

r1 players and other low ranks shouldnt even be able to get into match its not funny to play with that .. But i guess its hard for arenatnet to fix that and implement some good system.

first soloQ – skyhammer
Result? 11-500 win
Fun times.
Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise can not see all ends
Theoretically, in the future, completely new pvpers could be able to join ranked games and their MMR would fall to the level of other players like themselves. When I was completely new, I did hotjoin for a couple ranks and then solo joined free tourneys. The difference was so huge that I didn’t set foot in another hotjoin for probably 10-15 ranks, until I wanted to learn a new profession.
Given completely equal starting MMRs, such as after a reset, it should take the glicko2 system somewhere around ten matches or so to get reasonably sorted out. The new system won’t be rewarding lucky 11-0 starts anyway, so you may as well just ride out the first few matches knowing that they come down to nothing but chance, especially the very first one.
