For the losing streaks
It is based on a ‘pip range’ of 15 Pips. That’s your current division/tier/pip and then a 7pip range on either side. So if you’re at a low pip range in amber (7 pips or less) it is VERY likely to get placed with a mishmash of bads. The better players will quickly move out of this ‘pip range’ and so you’re less likely to see them. MMR is barely a consideration other than where the pool of possible matchups is large or very small. (Ie. Many in your range or hardly anyone.) Right now at low amber this all makes for seemingly terrible matches but the system seems to follow the rules they’ve explained several times. I do agree that a lot of people seem confused though and ‘certain wordings’ might not help.

If you read the match making doc as I see it. Your own team will be players of similar mmr as you and you will face any other team of players who have similar mmr. So right now it’s quite possible team of 5 legends face off team of 5 ambers .

Those Legends wouldn’t be in the same pip range. That’s what I say above. The saturation of Amber’s is causing bad matches. The touched on this when they announced new systems. That is partly why they made win streaks. To get people out of inappropriate pip ranges faster.

yea no. I moved up to emerald in a few matches, wins all the way, now I keep getting paired as a solo with 4 mans teams that are really really bad.
The losing streak mechanics meh, matchmaking is still comical at best. the extra pips are just a bandaid for not being able to climb on a loss (before you could get pips if your score was high enough).
I Play WvW to have fun. I don’t find it fun anymore. Therefore I don’t play.
I still don’t understand how if you’re a “good” player, you’ll just go on a winning streak. How are all these “good” players carrying their team if, like you say, it’s a mish mash of terrible and good?

idk? its quite easy to carry ambers if the rest of your team isn’t completely overmatched by the other team like if say every other person in the match is at a skill level 2 and you’re at a level 6.
split far at start and win the 1v1, thats a 20-30 point advantage in the early game right there and you’ve already caused a snowball staggering effect to start match for your team.
It has nothing to do with carrying others. Good players don’t have to carry their team, because they should only get put together with players of similar MMR. Same with low MMR players – they get weaker teammates. And those high MMR teams and low MMR teams can and will get matched against each other now, because they are all in the same division. This causes all those onesided matches and makes it easy for the high MMR players to climb up fast.
If you lose at lot now, your MMR is most likely below average. You will start winning as soon most better players have reached higher divisions.
