It should be 1 min or 30 sec … Like you never played the map and need to setup strategy ?
Its a tournament you’re not supposed to be afk or you should go spvp.

The timer indeed needs to be 30 seconds. And more importantly, players should be unable to change their skills, traits, utilities, weapons, armor, profession, etc during the FULL duration of the tournament. Even when in the mists waiting to advance to the next phase.

Encourage some skill, arenanet.

5 min is fine. It’s there to discuss changes in strategy based on the opposing team and to allow people who might be afk to get into the game (after all there might be a 5-10 min wait before you even get the pop).

I disagree with this. I think it takes more skill to know what utilities and amulets to use for a particular situation and to switch them out quickly in between fights.

It takes knowledge to know how to counter enemies by changing utilities. It takes skill to beat enemies with the utilities you went into the match with.

You just Queued up for a tournament, so you’re not supposed to be afk, tired of hearing that excuses. Its the same thing as if you were playing an LoL/dota game, when you Queue up, you dont go afk.

So I should not be able to go get a drink or take a kitten between the first and second matches when that wait can be 5-10 min?

Agreed. Shorten the time. Tournaments are for players who already have everything set up. I am tired of waiting for people to even join the game because they are busy looking at gear in their locker.

Strats are set in place and require on the ball decisions to overcome changes. the only strat you should go over in the 30 seconds should be “ok they have class X, let’s do this differently” and go.

i can deal with 5mins BUT don’t let people wander all the map wasting tiume dueling before tourney. force them to stay at the start location with a closed gate and you will see a lot of “i am ready” button pressed

When my team goes up against good teams like Ac, team paradigm, team legacy, iO, etc. , you have to come up with a good strategy to win. It’s also good to change up your strategy against that particular team as well to hopefully knock them off balance. And yes, we win a lot of these games, not all, but a lot. My team must be bad right?

you guyz never read, I am saying when paid is up you can play there and make your strategy in 5 min. There is no need to wait for 5 min in a free tourny where a paid and competitive one exists.
