Warriors are annoying as hell, and so are engis, and so would thieves if they played Accro. Passive invulns are the complete opposite of what should be considered skilled gameplay. Now that it procs at 50%, I can’t even count on my team mates to condi bomb the guy. At least, the engineer can’t do much to prevent you from killing him as soon as he comes out of the S form, but the warrior can still fight.
They ARE annoying. The right engi can be trouble as well. I totally forgot that.

I mean, I accepted long ago that I would not win my 1v1s unless the other player is significantly worse than me, but it is a problem when +1ing. With their sustain, warriors can easily stay above 50% health against druids or necros, so if you want to kill him you must first wait out his two endure pains, which is a huge disadvantage rotation-wise: if the warrior gets +1ed by a rev (or anything really), I’ll lose the 2v2
Worst part, blinds don’t work due to almost perma immunity to condis. Interrupts don’t work due to high uptime on stab.

The build that I’ve seen work 9 out of 10 times is the staff perma evade build. It’s broken in it’s own way. It may not be as quick as D/P but in a 1v1 it’s harder to deal with. Guaranteed to beat my necro more often than not.

I don’t see how anyone plays thief post HoT. I mained thief until HoT and and since HoT the class has been EXTREMELY unrewarding. So much effort and frustration and no reward for all that effort.
Steal the stab away, fist fury and palm strike. Keep your distance while defy pain is on, when is off you should be able to steal his stab again (if you have steal traited) and finish him off. Just make sure you get his stability to avoid his stuns.
If theres two warriors I usually just switch to my corrupt necro. The best thing about this whole ‘every class only has one viable build’ meta is that you can be very flexible about counter picking.
Thief is great fun though.
It’s amazing how thieves and necros spend the majority of their time..complaining.
There are only 2 classes that effectively reduce the build diversity almost to zero in GW2 and they are thief and necro.
1. You can’t go glass on 6 professions out 8 ( not considering the thief),and the 2 that can..still need to play flawlessly to get past the wall of daze/stun/stealth/teleport and insta burst
2.Your build must contain huge deal of condi clear or/and mobility to disengage otherwise you won’t live past the 5s mark as you will get insta condi bursted
3.They completely dominate the roaming worlds with multiple builds, a thief can get away safely from an entire zerg.
The thief has been “meta” since launch, or more precisely the class has never been ineffective for prolonged amounts of time, neither they ever saw huge strings of nerfs…while the necro get buffed periodically ….
Luckily there is warrior with which I can deal with thief and necro …most classes can’t anymore because of huge nerfs
I think you really need to learn to bait CDs and play the stealth hit and run game. Your steal is a guaranteed interrupt since bountiful theft strips the stability before causing the interrupt. With the thief damage buffs you can easily bait out endure pain with a well placed backstab. I still eat 8k backstabs on a demolisher ammy power warr, so I see no reason why a condi warr running carrion/wanderer will not.

Thief never saw huge strings of nerfs? What are you on? The traitlines to spec patch alone brought like more than 5 major nerfs at once. Do you remember when S/D wasn’t a useless pile of kitten, or when D/P 5 pulse was nerfed because players couldn’t figure out how to not stand in it?
A Mesmer, Scrapper and Druid can also get away from zergs that point is useless.
If you beat both of these classes that kill build diversity supposedly with warrior, I guess we should look at that next?
Edit: Also thief and necro have both seen downtime. Necros were worthless in PvE and very questionable in PvP for the longest time. Thieves were flamed at just for being thieves in PvP for 6 months after HoT. Try playing the classes before speaking.

Necros have been overpowered in PvP since the dhumfire patch(the dark times of gw2).
Thief has always controlled the meta in a way, he isn’t wrong. You couldn’t play zerker anything not mesmer in vanilla due to thieves eating you alive.

When HoT released, thief wasn’t meta and to this day is questionably meta. And look at that, we still don’t have zerker anything except revenant. Even when thief wasn’t meta, we still had bunker builds running rampant for the last 2 seasons. It’s almost like thief isn’t the problem or something.

I may get trolled for this but I found dash and double pistol solves a lot of pvp problems. Not as my main weapon but its very effective against certain classes.
