GG Outplayed!!!!
Very one-sided, condi overload dominated.
Norn Guardian – Aurora Lustyr (Lv 80)
Mia A Shadows Glow – Human Thief (Lv 80)
Very one-sided, condi overload dominated.
They had classes that could handle the condi-overload.
I mean it couldn’t possibly be that Outplayed actually just “played” better….

Outplayed definitely played their own comp well, no doubt.

I don’t understand what you’re talking about.

engies were on every other team (even 2 at a time!) and they didn’t look underperforming at all.

I was talking in regards to the upcoming patch. It’s not going to affect anything you’ve seen with regards to the Engineer.

And yet the parts of engi theyre buffing arent relevant at all to any of the builds these engis were playing. Theyre buffing the meh/useless stuff, not making the already strong stuff even stronger
Great games but I think Apex could have won if they played something more cheesy like the last ToL. I mean , DPS guard is kinda of a troll spec to bring in a tournament.
The players from both teams are very good but a mesmer/ DPS guard cant handle condis , so the comp helpled a little bit.
I wouldn’t called dps guard a troll spec, however the big problem is team fights. Dps med guards are terrible in team fights without the right support. They are great for roaming and 1v1, however team fights they are very vulnerable. For team fights you’re better off just going AH with zerker and shouts. This gives you more sustain, and also more team support.

Morfeus played Bunker guardian on Khylo and that didnt work either

hes really bad at both lmao

I personally think that ArenaNet are going to continuously buff Engineers until they can do what any other Profession can do, only better.
Pretty sure that is their goal with the Engineer.
Thanks.

I want to give my congrats to both teams, who played very well both in the game and meta-game. The finals match was really something beautiful to watch, imo, as there were clear changes in comps, strategies, and mid-game tactics that each team rapidly implemented and reacted.
For instance:
-Both teams changed comps to better fit the match (VERY few teams even altered their specs are utilities): Morfeus changed between bunker/dps guard, Zoose swapped to s/f fresh-air after playing d/d the previous matches (thief vs. no thief).
- At different times during every game, it was never clear who was going to win. One team would get the advantage, then it would flip-flop. Both teams were very smart about switching between which points to push for, when to go for animal, when to treb, etc.
-Both teams weren’t playing “meta” comps. This wasn’t 5 bunkers vs. 5 bunkers, and there wasn’t the 1 guard, 1 thief, 1 hambow/dd ele, 2 others commonly seen either.
Well played on both team’s account, and I look forward to seeing the teams/players in the future (I believe they said Outplayed was splitting up).
Can anyone list the prof and type of specs the teams used?

Just to clarify, guessing Cheesemode won EU ToL? I missed the last match. If so though, yay! Then again I only rooted for them cause they had the only Engineer in the finals. Was the first time I actually watched the matches.

Well to be fair you guys were running two engies and a necro, that’s a lot of condition pressure to handle. Probably why he didn’t perform as well. However at the end of the day, they simply just got outplayed.

I would like to say that we decided to get zoose on fresh air before we were even sure we were gonna fight APEX today. It wasn’t much of a reaction as it was “do the same thing we did when we beat them the only time we actually practiced” and it worked, miraculously…
I think that if apex had nnight on ranger they would have won since I think a condi ranger would have been near perfect for their comp vs ours. If they put that same thought as we did and switched 1 player to a spec they’re comfortable with I bielive they had a kitten good shot of winning. There was a 50-50 chance of us winning with nnight on ranger, but a 100% chance with him on a mes with no condi clear since we ran a pretty condi heavy comp and I’m sure we all tried our hardest to destroy him when we saw him.
Mad respect to Apex as well. it was 4 of the most intense games I have played in over a year. The back and forths in those games is what makes me play PvP. To play with and against people that know what they’re doing is what I wanted to do from day 1, and rarely do I get to do it.
finally, I think you guys can quit QQing about Apex’s bunkey comp now. Not only would it not have worked, it didn’t work to the point that they switched to a comp that was more manly than the team that won this tourney
@$20 an hour! It’s worth it!

ERgghh! This has more to do with how they played their classes than what their classes can or can’t handle. How can a team allow 3 of their members to get blown up in the middle of the point by one Phoenix. And there was no focus on the one guy blowing them up in the first place. Half the time, he just waltzed in and zapped someone.
The Mesmer could have done so many maneuvers that quite a few mesmers know how to do but I only saw about 2 portal plays and no awesome blink or Phase Retreat to safety that I could speak of.
