Zergwars or Pugwars is a more appropriate title.

What happened to having a guild ladder where your guild is the top shabang.

even in spvp there should be SPVP guild ladders where you must be part of the guild to que up. and the guild ranks up as a team.

SOLO Que doesn’t work take that garbage out of the game that ladder is a freaking joke. The game is entirely too team dependent SOLO is like a frustrating endless stair case.

personally, i think they should changed the name to “mist war”.

The Guild Wars are the three wars among different guilds in the three human kingdoms of Ascalon, Kryta, and Orr. The third war ended only because the charr invasion from the north meant an even bigger threat to the three kingdoms.

Little is known about the First Guild War, except that it was a war between Kryta and Ascalon – Orr did not join either of the first two wars.

The Second Guild War was memorialized by the construction of Surmia in 1020 AE. Ascalon was the kingdom victorious of this war according to the Historical Monument of Surmia. When it actually began or ended is unknown.

The Third Guild War lasted for 57 years (from 1013 AE until 1070 AE). The war began between Kryta and Ascalon much like the first two wars. When the two nations brought the war to Orr’s borders and within Arah’s streets, the nation rose to defend itself, escalating the conflict and resulting in casualties that eclipsed those of the previous two Guild Wars combined.

The war caused much suffering and hatred between the people of the three kingdoms, and this shows itself in the form of mistrust between certain individuals, such as King Adelbern, in the present day. During this war, public opinions of their leaders fell, which was one of the factors for Adelbern, then a war hero, being crowned as king instead of Barradin.

The Charr took advantage of the humans’ infighting and launched their own invasion, bringing an end to the Third Guild War through the Searing and, indirectly, the Cataclysm. In present day, the Third Guild War is often referred to as the Guild War.

This particular lore event was likely added after the game’s name and focus on pvp and gvg were conceived. There is no evidence this was the genesis for the game’s name. If you pay attention to the article, no where does it support your claim that this was the source of the game’s name.

gvg and ladders are coming be patient n stop with these posts ty :P

Because the phrase “guild wars” was of course not in their mind when they created an entire pvp system consisting of 8v8 guild wars taking place on chosen maps—mere coincidence. personally im surprised there is even a guild system in the game.

They just used the series name as a way to build hype and didn’t carry any of the actual gameplay or spirit from the first one over, because they were too busy dumbing everything down to make it more “accessable” and a bigger cash grab. And it’s completely kittened, because now everyone who actually liked the first Guild Wars will never get a real sequel to it since GW2 is tanking so hard.

it is okay actually since they managed to catch the attention of many casual players who is very willing to spend lots of real dollars into the gem store.

those so called old school hardcore guild wars 1 veterans i think are not so easily monetized since PvP is harder to monetize.
