GW2 PvP too hard for MMORPG folks
The easy builds are the meta builds… There are so many problems with this games PvP i dont even wanna say anything cuz idk where to start… I almost wish they would just take out targetting and make players aim lol
GW2 PvP too *boring for MMORPG folks
Fixed.
The mass exodus of the high-end competition wasn’t because the game was “too hard”.
It was because the PvP was stale, lame, and a huge step backwords from its predecessor.
Calling GW2 PvP an eSport is like calling Kim Kardashian a celebrity. Its just sad.
I actually agree with the op. If you think sPvP is easy, I guarantee you either don’t play it competitively, are a low level, or are hardly even on the leaderboard.
If sPvP is so easy, why haven’t you won $10,000 yet?
sPvP is all about teamwork, which is something the average joe pug doesn’t get. That in my opinion is why it isn’t as popular. People don’t know how to work together, and don’t even realize they need too in order to win. They just think that GW2 combat is easy, and blame their teammates when they lose.
Truthfully I believe GW2 is mostly comprised of casual players compared to more hardcore serious players. That in mind, when a button masher jumps in spvp and loses 5 times in a row, they’re probably not coming back anytime soon. sPvP is for hardcore. PvE is for casual. There’s just a little too much of a jump there.

You forgot to add *sPvP is boring and sad compared to other options available on the gaming market.
Because the game is boring. Many people would rather work a regular job and earn $10,000 rather than suffer playing the PvP GW2 has to offer.
Rather than just complaining, mind offering a suggestion of how to make it more interesting?
Sorry mates, you can’t argue with motoko . . .
Empathetic, you’d be more than welcome to offer any serious suggestions too.

I made suggestions for 11 months. I’ve lost hope for this game. I experienced competitive play long enough and sooner or later it just feels unrewarding, boring and cheesy. We can just wait what the devs will do . . .

This.
Although you waiting is more than I care to do with this game anymore, lol.
Julius, your comment was actually more helpful to the game than a lot of comments made here.
Empathetic, if you’re still willing to post, I’d encourage you to post ideas here on how to make it more fun. If all you’ve done the last 11 months is post about how you’ve “lost hope for this game” then maybe your posts weren’t as constructive as you seem to think.

There have been plenty of constructive posts and threads for that matter. I am sure Empathetic has had plenty of his own quality ideas.
There would be no point in posting constructive feedback on this game at this point. PvP has been in beta for 18 months and posting here won’t change any of that.
There would be no point in posting constructive feedback on this game at this point.
And that right there is exactly why PvP is the way it is.

No. The PvP is the way it is because the people in charge of the PvP have made it so.
Why should we continue to repeat and echo those before us a hundredth time in this thread?
Please tell me the point in wasting my time and breath in doing so. Your responses are telling me you haven’t been paying attention the past 12 months.
Oh I have been. My question is that if you’re willing to take the time and effort to sit here and argue with me, why not use that same amount of time to type something constructive?
Perhaps you can start with the question I’ve been asking over and over that you refuse to answer. How do you think they should change pvp to make it more fun?

Perhaps if you really have been sitting here paying attention the past 12 months you can simply recall what I have already posted numerous times.
Maybe if your memory is not serving you correctly you can utilize the search function.
Just make sure you shift through the posts where I am having to respond to people like you.
The situation isn’t I refuse to answer. I already have. The situation is I refuse to repeat myself.
You’ll have to forgive me for not memorizing everything every member has posted on the gw2 forums for the past 12 months. I suppose my memory isn’t as good as yours. Either way, the suggestions are not for me, I’m not the one making the game.
I guess the way I see it, if you aren’t posting a helpful suggestion like you said you’ve done previously, then why bother posting anything? If you don’t like Guild Wars, then best of luck in your next game! I’ll be in Team Arena with my guild anxiously awaiting whatever changes ANet has in store for us.

Then stop asking for the suggestions. They aren’t for you and the people they are for aren’t doing anything with them. 12 months should have taught you that by now.
I do like Guild Wars. I don’t like its successor. They tried to fix what wasn’t broken.
Have fun waiting for disappointment. I’m busy doing things with my life.*
*Don’t even think about posting something in regards to my life and coming here to argue with you.
You’ll be busy “doing things with your life”. Does that involve going onto other games’ forums and posting about how much you hate those games too?
I’m not personally a fan of say… League of Legends. Perhaps I’ll go make an account to post how stupid I think the game is on their forums. Seems like a good use of my time, right?

I already said don’t make a response in regards to it. Just because I take a few minutes out of my day on a break from working full time and going to school gives you no room to talk.
Simple instructions must be hard.
Stick to standing on geometric shapes for pixelated points.
I’m rather impressed at how, just by reading my posts regarding GW2 PvP, you managed to somehow discover that I don’t go to school, don’t have a job, and have an apparent love for Super Adventure Box. Most impressive.
Let’s try sticking to the original post please. We’re getting farther and farther from the topic here.

I made no reference to your life whatsoever. And it was a reference to sPvP, not SAB.
I feel like I am going way over your head now because you are misunderstanding every post I make.
I suppose we should stick to something basic like the original post, I would hate to keep confusing you today.
You should stick to the original post regardless of what’s being said. That’s what it’s here for.
That in mind, I’ve made my points and feel that at this point my continuing to post is actually becoming counter-productive and is actually derailing this thread since I’ve apparently angered Motoko so badly. I’ll stop posting here since I’ve made my point long ago.
Motoko n foop , man hug kitten lol , erm to respond to the OP gimme a break hold capture points with little build diversity is too hard ? lol oh boy
All of guild wars 2 problems are related to how the staff elementalist is currently is. They wantd a more fast pace game and all they got was spamming spam spamming. The staff elementalist skills function in a manner that would make pvp both exciting and more visual and less daunting but I suspect a lot of QQ would be raise if they change it to the staff ele animation and after cast and stuff.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
In case you haven’t noticed, and you apparently haven’t, ANet ignores the thousands of pvp feedback threads, and the cry for more game modes especially GvG.
All I’ve seen them do for the past year is ‘forward’ the suggestions to the pvp team and literally nothing ever comes of it.

To clarify, GW2 sPvP and tPvP is too difficult for the typical MMO person to become a top player in matches against people who come from FPS and other twitchy/reflex-based games.
Most MOBS and bosses do not require super fast reflexes; and boss encounters and the proper moves and timing are memorized after reading walkthroughs posted on the big fan sites. That’s how PvE works.
And most WvWvW seems like a big dungeon group boss encounter… almost nobody can see the effect of their actions on the outcome. It’s all pretty abstract and impersonal as 75 people attack a door or an mob of enemy players in a blurry hail of effects spam.

And i guess you are one of those FPS players? Im asking because if you think GW2 is hard as far as mmo’s go you’ve probably only played counterstrike your whole life. Because the game is basically spray and pray kinda like a crappy shooter that doesnt mean the game fails because the FPS players are owning the MMO veterans, making them quit. Thats some of the most backwards logic i have ever heard.
‘This game is awesome, other people just cant handle it as well as i can, too deep for u guys!’ pffffhahaha
i know it was mentioned a couple times already but,
new players need their own servers (r1-r10)
i dont find it fun stomping new players and im very certain they dont like it either
(…)it requires thought and reflexes and anticipation to play at a high level.
But I just don’t think there are enough people in the MMO population who have developed these kinds of skills.(…)
THEREFORE: in tournaments or soloQ you get a few players who have mastered these skills dominating the 75% who are not all that skilled.
Made me laugh so hard brah xD
IT’S ABOUT SKILL!!!
(Some people still spread the rumours that it’s about playing meta, rotation/roaming and snowballing – haha they have no clue)
Can’t you read?
The OP is a fool who made an assumption that most of the pvp players came from other MMORPG games, when in reality majority of dedicated PVP players came from MOBA and FPS type games

Best post this month on the entire forum
There are two problems.
1. A lot of builds out there give too much reward for the amount of risk involved.
2. The game is hard to be good at it which is why people flock to 1 and why so many people have quit because the comps can become stale and because of a lack of competition. Playing the same people and builds over and over again is not fun especially when most of the time you know your team is gonna win easy mainly because the other team is bad because this game is too hard for them.
Am I good?… I’m good.
playing GW2 pvp is relative to other MMO’s pvp systems.
Generally other games let you customize your UI with addons making the pvp easier and more fun for them
Other games generally have straight up keybinds instead of constant page swapping to use all of your abilities. This annoys a lot of players.
Other games go with the healer/dps which is easy to understand. Can kill a dps unless there is a healer. If healer cc the healer or kill the healer. In GW2 the “downed” state and entire setup for revivals is just not as fun for most people. Players want people to die when their health runs out. It is the most dopamine rewarding action. It would be ok if GW2 just allowed more self healing or a simple timer for a rez that was standard on all characters but it isn’t like that.
GW2 pvp lacks any truly compelling rewards. Generally most games reward gear that gives you a power advantage in the pvp. It is addicting and fun to have an advantage over other peeps still grinding out their final set of gear. GW2 you play only for the fun of the pvp itself which, as is demonstrated by the tiny participation, is not that compelling for most players.
Balance issues: There are balance issues in most games but GW2 just has balance issues that are way more towards the “unkillable juggernaut” style which is the absolute most frustrating balance issue you can have.
I’m returning to the game and plan to jump right into spvp. I’m sure I’ll get owned for a while. I’m not even sure what class I’ll be playing – GW2 is downloading now.
Playing mmorpgs for the past 17 years, I will admit GW2 feels different than any other MMORPG I’ve played do to the weapon swap / dodge mechanic, and combo fields. Oh, I had played at launch for a few months, so I have a feel for the game.
I’ve seen a few threads bragging on how this game takes so much more skill than other MMO’s in pvp. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn’t. But I look forward to finding out.
I can tell you getting to 2200 plus in that other game’s arena format (cough WoW) is no cake walk by far – and takes a ton of “skill”. I’m talking 3v3 and 5v5, not 2v2. Also rated battlegrounds in WoW are no joke if you want to hit high rating.
Me, I never managed to hit 2200 plus in WoW, maybe I suck. I came close a few times, very close. It’s not easy.
In this game you have way less skills to worry about using vs most other mmo’s, but you have the energy management, key dodges, key weapon swaps, and combos – all taking skill and timing/finesse.
I personally look forward to diving in head first. The pvp in this game looks more “twitchy” from a far do the the dodge mechanic. The thing is WoW pvp was twitchy as well, instead of dodges you were lining up key stuns, silences, peels, Defensive cool downs, offensive cool downs and such. Just because most other mmo’s don’t have “dodge”, doesn’t mean they take less skill – IMHO.
See ya on the battlefield
