GW2 is awesome.
Even with all the bugs, the fail balance between classes, the hell lot of missing features, the lack of new pvp modes, the lack of incentive to be at the top, the lack of class diversity, this game is awesome, and no im not being sarcastic. Just played some WoW arenas with a friend to remember good old times, god that game is awful how did we even play that? Ended up stressed and having no fun at all. At least there’s still fun in this game with all the above mentioned, which is what matters!
That notion is, at the same time, what is so great, AND what is so disappointing at the same time.
True
I often think " Will another developer do this kind of fast-paced combat with all the personal customization that an mmo offers?", or will this game ruin it for the whole market? As far as balancing and modes go: I think pve will remain the top priority, and could hinder any change for pvp. What are the fatal flaws that make GW2 pvp so unpopular, even with such an awesome game engine and combat style? What little is left of the pvp community seems too divided to agree, but it’s mostly balance and modes imo
I will say GW2 pvp is awesome, and to that extent incredibly frustrating.
I’d also like to take this time to be thankful they finally ditched the red and blue dyes… I posted about that more than once, and so many other people did as well. It was totally unnecessary, and all those excuses were just cooked up hardheadedness. This wasn’t gonna be no red vs blue. It’s good to see my own style, and show it off.
I think the idea that conquest is all that should be is along the same lines of ’ e-sport, money-makin + don’t jeoparodize the pve base with straight-up battles so everyone sees which class is really OP’ narrowmindedness
… thanks for an awesome game
Thats exactly why ppl are so disappointed and put as much pressure on ANet, because they realize what this game could be!
Yes, in it’s core, the gameplay, the engine, basically everything that is GW2 besides the lack of features (and maybe balance), is absolutely amazing! Never have I seen such deep and action-packed gameplay in an MMO or MOBA, never such a rich character-build-system etc – there’s nothing in that genre that even comes close to GW2, BUT: They Lack so severely in necessary features, that it’s just a chore to play the game nowadays.
I’d be really Angry with ANet and NCSoft if they let GW2-PvP slip through their Fingers, because it could be a game I would want to play competetively on a high level, that I’d want to watch Streams and Tournaments and that I’d want to invest my precious time and hard(ly)-earned Money in!
would be idiots not to capitalize on this oppurtunity. mmo-style 3rd person view pvp still needs a king atm. could it be gw2? hmmm the ball has been in their court
well they should be fast cause new mmos aer just around the corner..and they are probably taking the whole step with crossair aiming etc..
Pve = FUN! Love it!
Pvp = needs to be work on and it’ll be FUN!
That’s my view on GW2 status

^This. I really feel like MMO devs have lost touch with the gamers that actually play their games lately. It feels like a lot of them make the game, but then dont have the time to play it themselves, and see what we’re missing.
This last patch reminds me alot of D3’s 1.03 patch. Everyone was hoping for nice fixes and buffs to classes that had trouble with inferno.
Instead blizzard just nerfed the kitten out of everything, including classes that were already weak. They then spent the next few patches basically just reverting the kittenstorm they created in that patch, but it took too long, and by then the game never recovered and almost everyone had already quit. Basically this feels the same (except this time, I had already quit this game a few months in advance instead of foolishly waiting a little bit longer in hopes of a “savior” patch like i did in d3)

That’s ANets own fault, because:
1) They know the good players and actually host Shows with them (SotG)
2) They have an extremely active PvP-Forum where ppl Post….. a lot of BS, but also, there are some good Posters and informative Posts. It’s not hard to actually identify which players ARE good and which Posts they should take seriously.
3) There even have been Top-Players wanting to work with/for ANet, but they’ve declined.
I’ve seen a few Top-Titles fall very hard because of the exact same thing ANet does atm:
- Lack of Features
- Lack of Communication with the Community
- Things get implemented and time wasted on Stuff that should be second Priority
- Lack of understanding of their own Game and the Community that plays it
- False Promises
- Lack of Outreach to the competetive Community
- SWtOR had some very good PvP-Ideas and one of the best PvP-Modes ever (Huttball), yet it failed horribly because they didn’t give the Players Server-Transfers and Global PvP, which most Players have been asking for for Months.
- Diablo III didn’t do too well because of the AH, lack of PvP and in the first few Months, such a skewed Balance, that certain classes simply couldn’t do anything at higher difficulty-Levels. The Community asked for changes months ahead of time… They didn’t listen and lost tons of Players.
- HoN, which is probably the best MOBA out there (in the sense that it is the most complex, fast-paced and skill-demanding) still has the lowest Numbers of Players, Viewers on Twitch etc. because they failed to get a hold of the competetive Scene. So while Dota2 struggled, Valve reached out to TL.net, made them promote their Streamers, they organized almost Daily Tournaments and now, they are doing extremely well and potential MOBA-Players that want to go Pro, will surely choose Dota2 over HoN, because that is where the money’s at.

I agree 100%, a month back or so I had the same experience with TERA.
GW2 sure can be frustrating at times, but there is no other MMO quite as good or fun as it out right now lol
Maybe that’s reason ANet is sleepy and careless, they know they are no competence right now. Maybe they are saving all the cool features to when a game that can actually beat gw2 releases?
