GW2 on steroids
its actually rather okay once you kinda get used to it though.
I’d like to see an actually debate on this. The threads i’ve so so far havn’t convinced me. Upping dmg means that classes have more windows for 1v1, such as pushing a warrior off point when they don’t have rampage up. Although the infinite sustain possible on eles is incredibly annoying, they should be getting toned down in the next patch.
I’m not convinced that Anet knew it would be this bad.
Otherwise why bother with all those new defensive traits which are in-effect useless?
And that is scary!

High damage isn’t really okay though. It has more impact than people think, it’s not just “faster kill times”. Faster kill rates throw off stat balance, toughness is near useless right now because of the diminishing returns that it sees, the faster you kill the less impact toughness and healing can have. HP pools also weren’t corrected for increased damage.
Furthermore, the higher the damage, you also buff hard-defenses such as blocks/evades/blinds/mobility, since they become the only sure way to survive.
It’s fun for people who love 2-10 second fights, but for people who cared about general game balance and strategy, it’s not a good thing at all. The faster fights are, the more luck an instant skills have an impact on the game’s outcome, which is not at all what the game was built around which is reactionary action-based combat. At this point, you’d be better off playing a FPS, the effect is fairly similar.

Good morning wonderful and hard-working ANET stuff … sorry, staff.
Yep, dmg is insane right now. Sometimes 2 or 3 seconds are enough and you are down lol. All you need to do is to max your dmg and CC and forget to any more defensive oriented builds: they are in the game just for … what?
I don’t feel like damage is THAT high. I play celestial necro and I can usually survive for quite a bit of time. Unless I get +2’d by 2 zerkers, but then I think it’s pretty normal to get popped fast…
you could just run a non zerker build. Even though you list your stats, you didnt mention if there defensive skills or offensive. Like full bunker builds are incredible hard to kill.

I’ve not seen anything that can survive 2v1 for long.

I’ve proven actually that Toughness has a significant diminishing returns. I’ve had shatter mesmers 1 shot my 19k hp 3500 armor (more like combo, but close enough l, the time was <2 seconds). Of course I was in a small 2v2 and didn’t see him as he came in with stealth but that’s sort of the point. There’s often close to no reaction time available. It’s just not action combat pvp anymore, plays a bit like glorified chess.
And as I said before, because of DR on armor effectiveness, and already not being good enough for damage mitigation, it puts huge value on hard defense such as evades blinds and blocks/invulns. They become significantly stronger when fights come down to best lucky punch.

High damage and fast deaths are to be expected when the majority wants to run zerker/marauder

As it should. You’re supposed to lose when outnumbered.
But actually, some Soldier necro builds, d/d eles, bunker guardians or even soldier engis can hold a point decapped (not capped though) for several minutes against two opponents, unless it’s one thief and one mesmer.
i disagree and i run a bunker guardian and necro and ive never been hit for 19k and ive actually gotten decaps vs mesmers with my bunker characters. If your in a 1 vs 2 situation you probably should lose and if your in a 2 vs 2 situation and there targeting you and burst at the right time why shouldnt you go down?
Seriously if 2 player are playing burst characters and at the same time land a big hit on you why shouldnt you go down? If your not running protection, retaliation or blocks for burst hit and when you got hit do you have a out? A skill to stun break remove condi and then heal? If you dont then maybe your playing a higher risk build and arent ready for that in current pvp.
For the first time in PvP you are what you are. If you run zerk everything you will go down from a jab. If you run high defensive stat characters with average utility skills that dont make you stronger your going to struggle. Especially on a warrior with huge amounts of condi cleanse and defensive abilities. If you are on a warrior thats the one thing you can do atm.
