GW2 on the Front Page of Twitch
Was a fun tourney to watch, grats to Team Paradigm.

Definitely really good stream can’t wait for the next tournament! Looks like we’re slowly headed for Esports and it’s really exciting to see this happening.

• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •
Not the first time.
I know GW2 was on the front page when the SAB came out and one huge Youtube channel (don’t remember the name) was playing it.
Still nice to see something like that happen. It shows the game is not dead.
esports are built from casual base. these tournament’s don’t fix 5v4 or premade vs pug, this has zero indication of anything except to beat up a few newb teams nobody ever heard of.
It was an exciting day for GW2Esports. I can’t wait to see it get bigger and bigger.
@Shawnbuell
runescape and dayz has more viewers than gw2
this hurts me
at least we beat world of tanks
Notalkingplz (PvE/Spvp) – Guardian
Rough Trade (PvE)/Urok Ashpaw (Spvp) – Engineer

Problem is that this is a peak for GW2, while nothing special is happening with those other games.

Sprawl, almost everything I have seen you say recently has been negative. Please, for the love of everything beautiful, just relax and realise that there is no point being here to try and make the game worse with your depressive attitude. Yes, we know that this is small fry in terms of the overall battle to make GW2 a good competitive multiplayer game but its about drumming up excitement and support. Indeed, it may never even reach those heights. But why would anyone want to try and reinforce that perception?
You are leaching off of other people`s happiness that GW2 may be going somewhere. I cannot see a single reason that someone would spend their time being a constant downer on a forum unless they are just depressed and need to get some fresh air.
Seriously.
Edit: also, guys, it has been like 2 weeks starting basically from scratch. Get some perspective. Runescape has developed its fanbase for a decade. Its no mystery.
All involved should be commended, but ANET really shouldnt. Cant let all the ‘esport here we go’ posts make ANET happy about what they’ve done so far. People DONATED to get a tournament going. 9 months in. triple A up in here.

oh right i should be positive that they added custom servers while casuals still get stuck with 5v4 and vs premades, how silly of me!
fyi, casuals make games popular, not the 1 decent team left playing a bunch of newb teams in a tournament that still got less viewers than PvE/WvW streams.
im trying to make the game better in hopes that Anet points their focus in the right direction. It’s people like you who were in alpha tests that said “omg this is great, paid tournaments so gud! who needs leadurbowrdz we got QP! yay release nao!” that got us stuck with this joke pvp in the first place.

I would say the success of the SOAC Tournament is major props to the casuals who dont play on teams who showed up to take part and play. Yes we did have a few non casual players cough stunning styles cough, but 80 percent of the players who participated were sub rank 30 and on thursday at least 20 percent were players who were sub rank 10. I do believe the Engineers on sat had a rank 5 a rank 7 and a rank 10.
The entire warrior team was made up on thursday with players who either hadnt played a tournament or were simply farming spvp. The Necro team players went from all casual play tournaments when I feel like it to hardcore tpractice for two days, and several of the guys are getting together to practice.
Devilschoice (a guardian) went from a player who had given up on tournament play period to being so excited he is out trying to put together a team. if anyone is looking for a solid guardian, devil would like to try out. Your negativity has done nothing to help anything even the casuals. All whiners like you have done is drive players from the pvp, while several of us are yelling come back its fun! Lets tear it up.
are leaderboards working? No! Is solo queueing even remotely fun at the moment? No! Are tournaments a blast and is GW2pvp on the rise? absolutely, so lets get working on making things work instead of laying on the crowd throwing a fit that it isn’t. Do something proactive? Be positive, Keep MOVING FORWARD! and someday you will look back and say wow I was a part of the beginning of something awesome!
The lack of solo queue is probably killing the game for a lot of midcore players and even casuals. Once they fix that, it will take off.
I agree with the solo queue. The custom arenas and spectate mode were good first steps, and they are allowing us to pull tourneys with lots more viewers than we’ve had on anyone’s personal stream. I feel like it’ll improve, but by how much I don’t know.

on saturday when blu and grouch were casting the SOAC tournies, his stream reached 1,000 and guild wars 2 overall reached 1,300 and we were on the twitch front page….
