Dear developers,
I just wanted to leave a short feedback of what I think about the new pvp system. I want to indicate that this is my personal view and you absolutly don’t have to agree with it and would just like to leave this here.

Idea of making matches quicker: great (still I got 8 minute-queues)
Putting rating and leaderboard: great
Increasing rewards you get: absolutely fabulous!
Duo queue: okay
No option to go ranked with 5: bad
Throwing all players into one pot: absolutly terrible -> you lose so much quality in matches and make good PvPers go salty over newcomers who don’t know better. This is not good for experienced players nore new ones and makes me very very sad! So teaming up people that have +5k matches with people who have done under 100 is a no-go.
The system that decides how much rating people lose or win: absolutly horrible in my opinion (making it harder to become legendary is great, but you are making the game really frustrating for actually very good players as they can have a win ration of 60-70% without any progress at all! You have totally overdone that).

I have met the point where I am actually considering to deinstall guild wars (after I have loyally played gw1 for 4 years as well) and hope you take consideration upon my opinon next season.

I agree…. My games have gone from 20-30 a day to 2-3….

My reasons:
1. Match making is poor, as described above. While my games got better after 150 of them, it’s still noticeable what knowledge my team mates lack in regards to PvP.

2. Lack of skill required to be effective. What’s the point in playing any class except DH?

3. DH’s again: The traps… Running to point, get nuked by 4 traps and a guard longbow 5 off point followed up with another set of traps from the same Guard once I get on point…. I’m dodging the kittening floor instead of my opponents skills. (remember the fuss about Firegrab? and having to see opponent animations? yeaaaaaaa…….)

4. Class stacking in matches.

5. Winning 75% of matches but still not rising in rating.

6. Silence from the Devs in regards to the current PvP situation. Something, anything, would make a world of difference. I’d even accept a poll at this stage.

In the meantime I have a Mechnomancer/Gunzerker on BL2 to level up cuz Engies/Warriors are fun.

I mostly play for the new Free-For-All arena in PvP lobby.
….. And Elementalist.

I use to spvp for 2-5 hours a day for each league, now I’m doing 1-3 matches. Mostly recently, 1 match every 3 days with the melting pot of players method.

The most frustrating part is that it doesn´t matter if you actually played good and lost really close like 490-500 or played bad and lost 100-500. You will lose the same amount of rating. The only effect on rating is the win/loss and the players ratings. You should at least be rewarded for playing good by getting less rating loss.

Why is that a problem now? The system is working like in previous seasons with Glicko2. The only difference is that you now see it.
You always won/lost MMR depending on the MMR of you opponents. You just didn’t see it!

It seems you are confusing the pips/divisions (amber-legendary) from previous seasons with MMR divisions. Your are not supposed to rise to legendary if you are not good enough! You can only reach “legendary” MMR if you can compete with the best 50 players.

There was a soft MMR reset, which threw a bigger pool of players together at the beginning. The match making still tries to match players with equally MMR against each other. So I don’t know where you got the idea that all where thrown into one pot.

The problem is simple, you can’t see the average rating of your team and the enemy team.

If people would see “i won, but the other team got a worse rating” they understand why they gained less, but right now we have to guess the rating (or cobtrol it via friend list)

Assuming it is true that losing happens mainly against higher rated teams (if that isn’t the case, yeah we got an other problem in rating win/lost – but we can’t know…)

That type of gain loss should not be possible if the matchmaking is functioning properly. It tells us you are not being placed with the proper competition. You apparently are getting put against people the system thinks you are much better then. Outside of some early matches possibly you should never be placed fighting people you are heavily favored against. The whole idea of this stoopid thing is to place you against people your skill level or very close to it.

I have to agree, you almost dont want to play PvP.

Especially when you get to a rank or in the top 250.

For instance i was in the top 175. I lost 4 games out of 6. I havent been able to get back to the top 250 but i have gotten back into platinum.

This is something i want and i dont know if i want to keep playing tons of games once im at 1650+.

You can see players in the top 50 kind of not playing as much. I mean the incentive are the titles/badges and yet a person can play -20 games get a ranking of over 2k. And they guy with 200 games and a 80% win rate has fallen to 150. Something is not right here.

I think overall we should of seen this coming, its Anet and im pretty sure they have monkeys play darts in the back room with there ideas. The darts that land bam that is the new system.

They should have used the 2 up 1 down, ( or 20 on win 10 on loss this way the players who should be winning will keep moving up, making match ups higher up better in theory ) that way if you lose 2 and win 1, you are level, as it stands, you lose 2, and win 1, your still lower than where you started, add on top of that the RnG that seems to throw random no clue how to play there class players, and you could lose 5 or 6 games in a row, and then ud need to win like 12+ just to be close to breaking even,

I wasn’t massive on PvP before but i wont bother again after this season is over, i don’t mind losing to a better team, ( no one minds losing to a better team ) but when you lose because someone on your team seen a video on youtube of some guy who used a DH and held point for 2 mins vs 3 people, yet they die in 3 seconds, says it all, i just cannot handle the players with no clue now, that can undo a win streak in a few games, because they want carried.

They need to make it that personal contribution in the match is taken into account, that way those players who clearly should not be in your match fall down and fall fast, so they don’t ruin the better match ups higher in the rating.

It works both ways though players in the top ratings shouldn’t be getting placed lower down either, i played a match where the enemy team had a duo queue, no biggy, and them 2 players massacred us, later on when watching a twitch stream, them same 2 players where playing in a Legendary match up……really anet…..

If I’m let’s say a 1500 rated player, I want to have 1500 rated players as teammates and enemies. I don’t want 1900 and 1000 rated people in my games. Having an equal average on both sides doesn’t make it balanced, games are simply put – kitten. I don’t mind waiting 5 or even 10 minutes for a queue pop if I’ll be able to play on my rating.

Pretty much. I played around 12-15 games tonight, won around 70% of them but ended up down around 10 rating from before I started lol. Why even bother playing unless to counter decay? Stupid system.

I even had a game with Jeff on my team and I got a +5. He probably got a +3 or less, another guy got +4 at 1.8k MMR.

Funny thing is, the system doesn’t make two teams with equal average rating. It doesn’t even attempt to make them as equal as possible. One team gets started stacked with a higher average than the other team, and when queue population is lower, the difference between the two teams can be pretty crazy.

IMO anet needs to make matchmaking division based again now that the system is linked to MMR.

So Bronze only with other bronze

Silver with other silver

gold players will only get matched vs other gold players.

Plat with plat

legend with legend

etc.

I understand that if they do this, matchmaking at plat and legend will start to take forever, but I feel it would provide an overall better experience.

Matchmaking will be better they said. You will be matched with and against ppl with similiar skill rating they said. I don’t know how being matched with a guy with 300 less rating points is a definition of better MM. Cba this season

Ive completely given up this season, and this was the first season I actually got into it in a big way, so GG Anet, you win, I will no long play your PvP, its clearly not meant for some people, and I 100% cannot handle being stuck with the same crappy players that die in 3 seconds,

Tonight on my team I got stuck with a Rev ( that I got stuck with yesterday ) who dies in 3 seconds everytime, another player who ran past a downed team mate, and when asked why they didn’t res, there reply was, the point of the game is to cap points not to res, and ran off and died in 5 seconds to 4 players standing on the point.

If the opposite team was better then no problem, but its just not the case, when I get most of them 1v1 I can win no problem, and while im winning the 1v1 the other 3 or 4 members of my team are lying DEAD, this is the same story every match, im past giving away free ratings to other teams, because im getting players who have no clue,

Its gotten so bad now, that my block list has about an extra 30 players on it, whom I have to wait and see if they are in a match or not, just in the hope that I don’t end up with them on my team, this is not what the game should be about.

So again, GG Anet you win the season, PvP is only for those in the top 250-500 places, to bad if your not up there.
