Game Supported Team VOIP
bump
I would love to have those for Stronghold: http://smite.gamepedia.com/Voice_Guided_System
I hadn’t considered that method, and I’m sure its worked fine in other games, but I doubt people would want that over a push to talk option. Maybe they would, and it would work out fine?
It’s still possible to put link into your game to open up TS with a connection over a new channel for your “dynamic” VOIP team system.
Way less hassle than making one VOIP system by oneself.
Many players don’t like TS, anyway so it would be partly used.

This has been discussed almost as much as the “mounts” topic. And each one falls into oblivion. Although personally, I think it would be a neat feature, I don’t see it coming into the game any time soon. As many people as are whining about how toxic this community is, and how there are so many horrible people, just adding a faster and easier way to communicate would be a CS nightmare.
At least with third party you can invite only those you want in, and at least have some control. An in-game VOIP limits that control. So you’ll be stuck with that one guy who decides to play “Never Gonna Give You up” into his headset at max volume all day. And no one wants that.
It’s the chain I beat you with until you

If I’m being honest, I would mute anyone who tried to use VOIP anyway. Most of the time it’s people who assume they know best, or people who want to yell because you aren’t doing exactly what they want.
A solo queue sounds like a perfect recipe for a ‘too many cooks’ situation.

I would mute it for different reason, and for same reason when I instant perma-block anyone using non-english in /team.
Thats why I believe Smite like system is much better.

Yeah, agreed. Even something as simple as what Heroes of the Storm uses, a few options for map pings, such as “Defend here!” or “<Name> on the way!” to let you know what others are doing. I’m just against VOIP.

I think you guys are being way too pessimistic. Before I got into counter strike, possibly the most elite of all games, I did have my doubts about what it would be like for open voice comms. For the most part its just regular people trying to game, not some fool blaring music through his mic, or some 14 year old with rage problems, or some try hard who trys to tell everyone what to do.
Of course, these people do exist, and a neat little option also exists for said people, which of course is the mute option. Would you seriously rather not have voice comms because of some fear that it would go wrong, and miss out on possibly the biggest game changer an online game has to offer?
As for how toxic this community is, I think thats pretty funny, because you can say that about pretty much every game out there. Except its false, besides the few people who do make it harder for everyone. These people are not the majority, I regularly team up with chill and laidback people who just want a good kittening game. No bs, just a good fight that is contentious and competitive. Voice comms make this possible above all else imo.
