Well as i’d like to say PlayerVsPlayer in Guild Wars 2 is pretty fun. But saying that i think it could improve if we could choose which game mode we would like to do along with the existing ones. Here are some of my ideas though for new game types.
Free for fall – Players all fight against each other in a medium sized map which consists of around 10 people. The objective is to get 25 kills and that WINS you the game. At the end a scoreboard comes up of your wins and deaths.
Team death match – Players fighting each others to the death with a score limit such as courtyard.
Hardcore team death match – As above but when a player dies they do not re spawn until all of there team is dead or the enemy team. This game mode would consist of rounds.
Assault and protect – This game mode would consist of a NPC that a team would have to protect against the enemy team and escort safely away into a different area. If you are playing as the enemy team your objective is to capture this NPC and kidnap them to your area. But beware if you are the assaulting team any team mates that die won’t be able to re spawn until the next round.
So yeah let me know some of your ideas and let me know what you think of these!

Hey !

I agree pvp could have more game modes, but the extension will bring a new one (Stronghold).

- The free-for-all is a very bad idea imo, as this game is more focused on teamplay. Moreover, classes have different roles despite the lack of trinity, so some builds would just be useless in such a game mode, which won’t bring diversity at all.
- Team Deathmatch : we already have the Courtyard, but they could work later on more maps I agree. If such a thing happens, it would be nice to separate capture mode from deathmatch.
- Hardcore TDM : I disagree as high sustain classes only will be viable (war, engies, and eles would be the only viable options?)
- Assault and Protect : why not. I still disagree on the definitive death principle though. I’d see it more like something that exists in another game (WoW, don’t blame me). An offensive team has siege golems (like Vinewrath) and has to break down some gates to reach an objective to capture/ something to destroy. The defensive team has to protect gates and objective. At the end of the day, it looks prety much like the new Stronghold, excepted that in the latter, both teams are offensive and defensive. I just hope they will create more maps with nice mechanics for this !

Hey pomdepin thanks for taking the time to reply! You have made some really good points and shown some of the flaws each mode would have.
Yeah it would be very nice to just be able to separate game modes from each other to have your own playlist that you would like to play so i’m hoping when this expansion comes out we should see some big improvements to PvP
