Gameplay Like/dislike

1. Yep
2. Yep
3. Yep although WvW scale is too big imo. Would be nice to see something between this and sPvP. GvG 24 vs 24?
Dislike
1. Partially agree but the fun aspect is enough purpose for me.
-Better matching and ladders would improve it.
-Scoring is not right. Too much personal value on kills in 8vs8 means people hardly try to play the objectives.
-Games have to be balanced. Might not happen so much if you stopped pulling tournament players out of 8v8s mid game.
2. Balance – definately some issues.
3. I like the downstate but yes it could be toned back.
I like:
-Flexible build system, rather than specs.
-Mists for experimenting
-Three way WvW
Dislike
-Too many extreme builds. Either extreme damage or extreme survivability.
-Downed state and rezz mechanics
-WvW split up into 4 “different” maps
-Lack of game-play/map variety.
I love the pvp in its current state.
I would enjoy more rewards in some form, and I would very much enjoy more game modes!
Like:
1) Cosmetic upgrades only
Dislike:
1) The fact that this games PvP is in no way inspired by or based on Guild Wars 1 PvP.
2) Quickness
3) Bugs
4) Capture point only
5) Lack of victory announcements (___’s team won HoH)
6) Lack of ratings
7) Lack of healer
8) Downed state #2 abilities
9) Gap closers / openers being waaaay too common. Blink would make a good Mesmer ultimate on a 60 second cool down.
10) Stupid condition stacks that remove that fine distinction of using cover conditions/hexes instead of just spamming buttons
11) Limited attribute distribution on amulet fixes a couple exploits and trashes on a dozen build options. It’s a drug that prevents heart attacks and causes lung cancer.
12) Lack of spectate mode
13) Rally mechanic
14) Changing characters mid tournament
15) Underwater combat
16) Kittens
Except for #1, those dislikes aren’t in any particular order, and I might be forgetting one or two.
Like:
- WVW
- gear/level normalisation
- a viable melee mage option (D/D Ele)
Dislike:
- downed state in PVP zones
- general lack of skill choice
- Ele: staff == only long-ranged AOE, D/D = only melee range
- Ele: lack of build depth/choice, only defensive specs are effective
Like:
Gear is only cosmetic, a rank 1 has the same stats as a rank 40.
Experimeting with a flexible trait system.
Weapon swapping and how weapons determine your skills
Being able to create a new character and start playing on a level field in 5 minute
The environment encourages tactial play and strategical thinking
Its fun
Dislike:
I don’t feel like I’m making any “progress” as there is no ranking system
Free tournies are not solo friendly (paid should be for competitive players with groups)
Only 3 maps (RotC does NOT count)
Only 1 game type (main issue right now for me)
Changing characters mid tournament
Too many extreme builds, not enough hybrids/middle ground builds
BUGS
Might have left off one or two likes/dislikes, but thats pretty much it.
Like :
The title – It has guildwars in the name.
WvW is ok, but not what I bought the game for.
Dislike :
-I think pvp needs a vendor that buys your pvp junk like armor so you can decide do I want to make gold off this or salvage it?
-Party bars compared to gw1 Think they need to be relocated by default and larger without the faces.
-Conquest, bad format.
-The removal of healers and the fact that this itself is one of the biggest reasons there is less options to choose and everyone does pretty much the same thing. If we look at how many playstyles in gw1 vs this one there is about half or less.
-The destruction of teamplay when in comparison to guildwars 1
-They said positioning would mean more, but it means nearly nothing now, we used to call people frontline, midline, and backline and for the most part would stay in positions. Right now I would call everyone a frontline, which is messy combat.
-One hitting aoe players which wouldn’t work in gvg, or I mean you could make the format with it but it won’t be any good that way without taking extra measures.
-Comparing gw1 mesmer to gw2 mesmer doesn’t even make any sense.
-No casting bars
-Removing interrupts from the game
-Removing the holy trinity is another reason everyone does the same stuff (and I mean everyone) and could have been done better, I feel like every class is nearly the same class.
-Lack of good spvp format(s)
-Mesmer for the most part uses swords or plays something terribly boring (what?)
-Trebs not taking any form of communication, like in gw1 you had to tell your team im firing get out of that area or atleast put on your flame shields.
-Auto attacks in pvp especially on melee classes (these are different than the gw1 autos these are using up a skill slot and automatically using the skill when it will hit)
-You can be super effective on most classes just spamming whatever you are running for the most part (and you don’t even need to know what they do), and some classes are most effective that way makes for a very boring gameplay.
-Mesmer sword mainhands leap is terrible and needs to be retought out to not have to count on the ai to jump to foe I have posted and sent in bug reports on why this is terrible to count on something that bugs/dies/never will reach the opponent if he does a random dodge at any point in time to land your spike.
-WvW needs to be more rewarding (I’ve seen rewards get nerfed and nerfed possibly or atleast I hear from bots doing the rewards) there is easy ways to stop bots from even wanting to enter wvw, and a wvw exclusive currency for certain things other than badges could also possibly be a solution that is account bound since they cannot sell that currency.
I can literally go on forever.

16) Kittens
Ok that got me.
Agree on most your points except the second part of #9 and #7. Imagine a Bunker with a healer on his kitten Or how amazing stealth + heals would be. I will pass on that.
16) Kittens
Or how amazing stealth + heals would be. I will pass on that.
While they are in stealth they are trying to not be seen possibly because they don’t want to be hit right now or are full health and going for backstab/pistol#1 etc which means they break it. If they were to use say shadow refugee in an opposing teams front/midline they shouldn’t be able to stand there even while invisible for long they would need to run out to their backline anyways. Gvg would have more than 5 players and there would probably be aoe without a doubt and coordinated, you would probably even say shadow refugee right here people are standing in it aoe it NOW.
Now stealth would almost be the equivalent to a sin knowing he is in trouble in gvg and running towards his backline to pull other players into his team.
Then again we are looking at this from two different point of views. I was looking at it from gvg maybe even wvw with healers.

I really want this dislike separated from my above posts that are not related to this, this was almost gamebreaking for me when I started playing.
Guildwars 1 had four weapon sets. They were different however, it was a thing of which weapon set suites me best in my current circumstances.
Guildwars 2 has two weapon sets that is more of a thing about cooldowns than anything, there is sometimes swapping to be more effective but it’s different.
Now while reading this remember you can only spec for one or two weapons at a time so some of them the other ones won’t be as effective and you will only excel on a couple sets.
I’m going to use two proffessions as examples to how four weapon sets would work here.
Warrior :
F1 – Godsword
F2 – Hammer
F3- Bow or Gun
F4 – Mace/Shield
This becomes a what weapon suites me best in my current circumstance, are we going to spike? Godsword. Do I want to control a single target? F4. Do I want to knockdown multiple people/control a group? F2. Do I want to block? F4. Do I need to ranged since I’m snared? F3.
Mesmer :
F1 : Sword/Focus
F2 : Godsword
F3 : Staff
F4 : Wand/Sword
Do I need to ranged? Godsword. Do I need to spike? F1. Do I want to be nearly useless and throw up a few buffs/conditions at random, along with a few shatters? F3. Do I need to block or play more defensively? F4.
I was also in disappointment of not being able to customize each weapon skill. If I wanted to go more defensive I could throw more of those skills in, more conditional based, more of those in my build, control, support etc, etc.
I can go on more on this topic but I’ll leave it at that.
