Give every class initiative
It would make every class broken just as thief is broken now. Initiative is a broken mechanic.
you see the complaining about thieves having it? people acting like it shouldnt exist just cuz its different from the rest?
other classes are not even balanced for it, would require some serious changes.
if every class have initiative, there wil be more newbie asking for nerf because every class would be “op”. because you know, learning to play a game is more difficult than try to improve ourselves

The only newbies are those who think an MMOROG is perfectly balanced upon release, as they clearly haven’t played one before.

well..in a universe where this game won’t be fixed anymore(a bad universe btw) mewbies are users who think they should win every fight against everyone always with no skill involved in learning to play better, so they come here and whine because they don’t want to improve their matchup against thieves
If warriors could chain knockdowns back to back and kill you without getting back up, you’d be crying for nerfs. Thieves can do it in a 2 second stun.

Thieves have a 2 second stun? What are you smoking??
Thief skills are balanced around them being able to use them a few times. Example, hundred blades does 3x as much dmg as pistol whip. Thief can use pistol whip 3 times in a haste if done correctly, but if traited for initiative pool AND regeneration they rightly can potentially do a 4th pistol whip with no haste. If someone is really dying to that then they are meant to die because they would have died in the same situation against a 100 blades warrior. People learned how warriors work, thieves are taking longer for the general kitten population to adapt to. My only wonder is what the next cheese is for derps to flock to.
Yes please. Give my CC/bunker Engineer Initiative. You will never stand up or move.

No thank you. I used to want it.
Not to mention elementalists would be even more UP. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen some good ones, but they are good because they can pop 6-10 skills in just a couple seconds, not because they have a “spam me, i win button” ala heartseeker. A limited pool of skills resource would mean eles get 4 abilities off, do 15% of an enemies hp and cry in a corner while waiting for a quick death.

What are you on about? Stating something needs balance does not prevent people from trying to improve, the two are not mutallly exclusive.
Nor is having the view something is in need of balance anything to do with being a newb, if you watch the decent teams on Twitch all of them state their views on certain skills they think are OP and are in need of balance (often including the class they are playing, unlike many of the people who spout the sort of thing you do).
if now, a rank 50, champion brawler, marauder, come here and say “X is op please nerf” i give him more credit than all the forum users because i know his statement is due to experience and a lot of time spent playing.
here there are a lot of players who build funny stuff on their character and pretend to win without careing anything else than their own profit.
as far as in sc2 blizzard ask to proplayers how to balance the game, and maybe a lot of stuff is op for a casual gamer.
No thanks, I’m happy with my 40 second CDs
The system itself isn’t really the issue. It’s some of the costs. It’s meant to allow thieves to attack quickly. The question that should be asked is what should be permissible in terms of that or not. That’s probably the fairer question to ask.
No. Just, no.
Initiative sounds like a really cool mechanic, but in reality it promotes using the best skill possible (aka, spamming) because everything shares resources. Why Headshot when I can Pistol Whip? Why Death Blossom when I can Heartseeker?
Say, for example, a GS warrior had initiative. Why would he use any of his other attacks when he can do 2-3 HB or WW?
I wanted to like initiatve, I really did, and it does have its perks (flexibility, mainly) but it just gets boring using the same skill for damage over and over and over again.
Oh yeah, due to Initiative, no skill can be “good” because when that “good” skill is used 2-3 times in a row it becomes too good. Everything has to be an okay skill because it can be chained.
For example. The 4 skill on a pistol offhand (for Thieves) is called Headshot. It does minimal damage and dazes the target for 1/4 of a second (its mostly used as an interrupt). Now, look at the 5 skill on the Mesmer’s pistol offhand. Its called Magic Bullet. It bounces between 3 targets. The 1st is stunned for 2 seconds. The 2nd one is dazed for 2 seconds, and the 3rd is blinded for 5 seconds. Could you imagine how powerful that would be if it could be chained?
Pistol Whip does 1/2 damage of 100B, because it can be chained. The list goes on and on…..
Initiative is a broken mechanic. The solution to a broken mechanic isn’t to give it to everyone.
First I would like to thank everyone of you for reading my post and taking the time to give constructive feed back. So I will respond to each of you. If I overlook someone please forgive me.
@ Isabis
If every class is “broken” then no class would be broken!
@Wolfe
Changes that would make the game even more fun!
@Shukran
If every class is OP, then every class is equally powered!
@TheDenofSin
Whitecliff’s engineer would be able to counter of that.
@Haku
Increasing or decreasing the initiative costs of skills (like 100 blades) to balance them would remedy the issue.
@Whitecrow
We’ll see about that!
@Killyox
Why did you used to want it, and why do you not want it now? Please explain so this thread remains constructive.
@Ender
I’m not an Ele player but perhaps this would make it more simple if people could use the one element that’s more suitable for the situation and not run out of cool downs.
@Sylosi
This game definitely is not perfectly balanced it’s a work in progress. I’m hoping this suggestion could perhaps help with that work.
@Klassic
I’m not very happy with 40 second cool downs for weapon skills. I think their just fine for utilities though.
@Sharpclaw
So, maybe initiative could be limited to spamming the same skill no more than two or three times? So hs, hs, hs hs, hs, hs, is no longer possible, but instead it is limited to only two heart seekers in a row.
@Zunhar
Considering HB roots the warrior in place I think smart players won’t spam it much. And for every move you think that is OP, their will probably be a move that can counter it. The list goes on and on…
@Yukishiro
It would no longer be a broken mechanic if every class had it.
I don’t see why 100B would be OP with that change. Currently, the only way to land it is with bolas/bull/flurry or something that immobilize. Then, Frenzy and 100B. It is already really easy to dodge (bolas is easy to escape, as bull’s), not counting the stun breakers. When the warrior manages to do that, he can put a 100B. If he manages, he’ll kill the other, if he can’t, he’ll die. What would be the point of being able to do 100B at will ? Self root yourself ? Continue to another 100B after the enemy is gone ?
Although, that change seems silly, all classes would be copy/paste of the others. Each class need unique mechanisms (what we don’t have currently).
