tl/dr: give map pings sound to increase map awareness

Once again, stolen from LoL. I think implementing in game voice communication for soloq is kind of pointless, most ppl probably won’t use it anyway (sup wow). BUT i found that pings on map making sound in league are extremely helpful.

From my experience most people don’t look as much at map as they should probably and ignore pings (they are in fight, tunnelvision etc.). I think ping sound would actually bring more attention.

Certainly, there are plenty of players that play w/o sounds but a lot do have it on.

There is also issue with ping spam which was solved in League by limiting how many pings you can make within short amount of time.

A Ping sound without additional information is bad. You don’t want a Dubstep in your game do you ?

I played heroes of the storm thier minimap pinging system is great.

Maybe follow what LoL did and code each ping with a sound so even if you don’t look for the ping on your map you at least know what a team member is calling attention to. Then you technically don’t have to look away from fights to know what’s going on so tunnelvision wouldn’t be as big a deal.

Didn’t GW1 have this like 8 years ago?

They did. They had a basic sound, it wasn’t coded and there weren’t specific types of pings you could use it was 1 general ping but yes they did have it and I’m surprised it’s not in this game
