Give warriors smoke fields
A lot of warrior discussion going on right now, I’d like to know what you guys think of this suggested buff to warrior~
In my opinion….warriors with such easy access to stealth via smoke field and leap finishers isnt the way to fix the warrior…it’ll not help build diversity as every warrior with have to have access to smoke field and leap finishers in the build
Also as a warrior enthusiast it sounds a little strong. Stealth isnt the option for warriors.
It’s an interesting idea but being that is a smoke field what I think would happen is that the warrior would combo stealth. Bull charge someone. Beat the carp out of the with out them having any ability to see it coming or on the axe stealth combo/ eviscerate. While the blinds could provide some defense the smoke field would give another powerful offense to an already strongly offensive class.
I think if there are blinds implemented it shouldn’t be a combo field at all.
Truthfully I believe a warrior can survive if played well or if they really are running high damage to realize that is a kill them before they kill me gameplay and be prepared to be unable to escape if it doesn’t pan out.
Give a man a fire and he’s warm for a day, but set a man on fire . . .
I would like warrior to have access to smoke fields on the skills. We should have some Skill that allow us to stomp, avoid damage like other professions can do. Right now we can only use stability and it takes a utility slot or a trait (the last its unreliable because you cannot choose when to activate the trait) , and if the other team is competent they just dps the warrior to dead in 2-3 sec.
Right now warrior its the easiest class to defeat. That could be some help to let warrior reach the other professions capabilities.
I think that warrior should have also some kind of camoflage utility slot. Its a warrior and warriors should have camoflage to execute tactical attacks or to survive.

Not one person in this thread so far feels like they understand a warrior or are a true warrior.
Tbh I don’t think smoke fields (= stealth) would help too much.
Neither would it give you more sustain (yes, you can avoid some damage but you have no trait synergy with it like thiefs) nor the ability to stick to your target. The only improvement would be stealth stomps which would help obviously but good luck getting to that point in the first place.
In the end nothing would change except for warriors to be able to stealth → stun/immobilize → 100b → stealth stomp. The combo would be so lame even thiefs would be jealous.

And that is?
“In the end nothing would change except for warriors to be able to stealth ? stun/immobilize ? 100b ? stealth stomp. The combo would be so lame even thiefs would be jealous.”
The thiefs already do that with their skills.
Warriors need sustain, not stealth/blinds. They need ways to actually be able to stay in combat for more than a few seconds. This is not the way to do it.
Smoke field stealth does not hit until you land, so bulls charge would not be stealth at all. You would have to waste another leap skill in order to get a stealth BC.
Clearly people do not understand how this game works.
yes interpret you would gain stealth at the end of the bulls charge or evis leap etc…and as soon as you use another attack you’d lose said stealth….see pistol 5 dagger 2 combo for thieves.
Wouldn’t change much now that I think about it.
Warriors just need a higher base damage that’s all. 20 to 25 % sounds fair
Making warriors into wannabe thieves just sounds like a terrible idea. If you want to argue for more survivability for warriors, then there are plenty of ways to achieve this while still allowing warriors to play like warriors (i.e. add more blocks or CC).
Hell, why not give warriors a disarm option?
You have to understand thieves use smoke fields to go stealth which is their ONLY means to survive…it’s a gimmick and you can hit right through stealth. Thieves are the only class with no blocks, no true invulns + lowest HP pool.
Even built full glass a warrior has like 20k hp, which is like 6k more than a thief. They also have blocks and true invulns.
Giving a smoke field to a warrior is totally unfair.

I’m saying to use a skill to go in stealth before hand for example a warrior using the axe/shield combination. It would be something like after throwing down the combo field —> Shield Bash (now I’m invisible)-→ Eviscerate.

I won’t claim to know warriors very well. I know their general problems, but none of the in depth stuff.
That being said, why not just add some defensive measures to existing abilities? Tack on some blocks and short duration protection to weaponskills and AA chains.
Perhaps an adept trait that adds X/2 seconds of protection at the end of an AA chain that takes X seconds to complete (so add 1s of protection to pulverize, .75s to hammersmash, etc). Or maybe a singular block for 3s upon completing an AA chain instead.
Maybe a minor trait that grants protection/stability for Xs and drops a condition on burst skill activation. Or Replace Adrenal health with a direct heal on burst skill use (the actual numbers of which I’ll leave to someone more experienced with Warrior)
In fact, most of the defense trait line looks pretty awful (remember my disclaimer, not so knowledgeable on warriors) as for reducing damage taken goes.

I think that some people should understand that with smoke fields, warriors would not have direct access to stealth like thieves do at all! They will have to use up a leap or blast finisher to achieve stealth, and this leads to a certain amount of predictability. For example, if a warrior bull’s charges through a smoke field from a distance away on an axe/shield weaponset, it’s still extremely predictable what he will do next (eviscerate or shield bash then eviscerate).

But from what I’ve read (and experienced), that’s not the issue.
Warriors don’t have a problem dealing damage – they have problems lasting in a fight to keep doing damage. The game doesn’t need 2 flavors of squishy burst damage – thieves already got that pretty down pat. It sounds and seems to me like warriors want the option to do solid, steady damage while remaining durable, so that they can pressure in team fights.
As a side note – smoke field + leap is explicitly direct access to stealth. Indirect access is what they have now; some leap finishers but no in-class way to produce smoke fields.

Nah, Warriors just need either Teleports, Long-ranged and fast Pulls or better Leaps that can traverse distances in height better to get to the places where the ranged-spammers are hiding.
Giving them Smoke-Fields and/or Stealth wouldn’t fit the class and we simply don’t need another class with stealth.

Awesome idea!!
by the way, after this buff why a warrior should try a thief and viceversa? i think that’s the problem.
If Anet could give us access to protection boon, the class could be fixed in a moment for me.
Even something really small like: “you get protection for 1 second when you dodge or block” could change our class deeply imo.
Or a new way to stay stick with ur enemy, maybe a new shout “over here kitten!” that make u leap to ur target an daze them for 2 seconds. ^^
R.I.P. my beloved Meh-Mer, the most hated class by ANET itself.
Winner of the first HxH 1v1 tournament! WOOT!
Anti stealth field for warrior would be useful to counter thiefs and mes godmode.
I don’t think increasing damage is the way to go, nor do I think that is our problem. Being primarily a melee class that lacks sustainability coupled with effective condition removal is the larger issue in my opinion. However, giving too much sustain and condition removal along with our potential for high burst could be too much? What I’d like to see is a passive increase to our speed….gap closers on all weapons beside GS and sword……a further decrease on shield block cd when specced….and a further rework of traits that often do not synergize very well.
Now with the new patch and the change to blinds I’d like to revisit this idea. What’s just one cheese mechanic under warr’s belt going to change regarding their viability?
