The glicko volatility parameter is causing unbalanced matches and needs to be lowered.

I have seen many unbalanced matches (500-200 or worse) in soloq where the players on the losing team had similarly leaderboard ranked players, but they had very few games. I have been noticing this problem more and more as Winter break is starting for many kids.

Likewise, I have seen players who don’t play much end up on the top 25 leaderboards and then proceed to lose 10-20 games in a row, likely screwing up anyone else that happen to get matched with them.

Also someone on my Tpvp team was ranked 60% after losing the first one after reset. We then beat a r500 team, and she became r80, while I barely moved from r300 to r280. I don’t think the system is working if things like this happen.

how is it possible that in such a high budget game, we got such a bad leaderboard system and pvp rating? How is it possible that someone wins 11 games and jumps to 1st on the leaderboards? Seriously, first place? All a person has to do in guild wars 2 to be the “best player” is try kitten an afternoon, get lucky with his team and override all effort anyone might have put before that. It could be months effort gone to kitten because someone, on the last day before the leaderboards were reset and rewards handed, got lucky. This doesn’t happen in any other serious game I’ve played… This screams incompetence all over.
Can we please have decent matchmaking? Please? Ladders won’t make a difference if the matchmaking is still this garbage we got now.

edit: i mean, the guy that got rank 1 didn’t even know how the leaderboard works! LOL He was like “yeah guys i don’t show up on the leaderboard, how does this work? … oh wait nevermind, I found it.. Oh look I’m rank 1 LOL”
