Glorious Hero armor set
Pve’ers will just join the skyhammer farm servers to hit eachother and fall down repeatedly to get their special pvp armor. Anet really has to do something about those servers.
Okay, but what about the Tribal Armor set? Stalwart? Commando?
I just made a post about this, and as someone who has a high chance of winning it, I agree with the OP but would like to reword it differently. There do need to be exclusive armor sets for those who do well at their mode of choosing, such as PvP.
What needs to be done is, tournies should be focused more on cash prizes/some exclusive items/exclusive finishers/exclusive anything. But anet needs to really try to let such items with high prestige be obtained in game by using Leagues/Good Leaderboards/Ladders and NOT tournaments. A few of the top teams will win the tourney most of the time which will get stale and almost a waste of exclusive items. So items such as these would’ve been better implemented if there is some sort of way they can be obtained by doing well in team que/solo que with a good system, which would give those who do not wish to participate in tournies, or want to get better overtime to possibly win these. It will also give top teams who maybe don’t wish to obtain the armor anymore to not team que anymore if there is no need, and let other teams win to obtain it.

Like I’m pretty good and think I should have a shot at some armor. But I can’t, cause Morfeus here is gonna have like 10 sets from the next 10 tourneys.
Am I good?… I’m good.

And this is exactly what I want to avoid
I think if they want to keep doing or having sets for tournies, there needs to be a middleground. A set for winning tournies but ALSO a set doing well in team ques with a good system, and then a set for the reward track. That would suffice for now I think.

Your comparison is terrible. Pvp is a competition in order achieve something whether that be prestige, items, etc…for being good at it.. But there is nothin to work for unless you are the top, and this is only when tournies are around, which is so stupid. This is an MMO and not the NBA playoffs. You rely on people to play your game as an MMO developer, so you need to give them reason to. They don’t have a community therefore they need to work on getting one by also catering, but I’m a competitive way, to casual, semi competitive, and hardcore.

The analogy was in reference to the OP, where they essentially asked that the most exclusive reward PvP is going to offer to be made available simply for showing up – which is, as I see it, exactly why this game doesn’t have a lot of competitive play at the moment. None of the rewards actually require winning or playing well.
my apologies for not making that more clear

Where did I write this? Please quote where I wrote that you should just show up to obtain that armor.

Or are there plans to actually make really big open tournaments. And with big I mean in the 100k+ participants, and everyone gets the armor regardless of whether they came far or not.

And everyone can see that this was exaggeration as a 100k participants tournament would never work… well except you.
