Glory , ranks and custom arenas...
I can’t understand why custom arenas continues to give glory , i mean you should be able to get glory and ranks only with tournamets not with custom arenas that i suppose to be a training place.
Ps sorry for my english.
Custom arenas are also part server browser so it gives glory and experience points.
It’s a training place for those ones who want to play tPvP. For everybody else it is not and punishing them for not playing tPvP would be wrong.

It wouldn’t be punishing them, it would be disencouraging the “10vs10 ZergFest HIGH GLORY” playstyle.
If for some people that’s their idea of fun, let it be, but I’m pretty sure most of them are there to get titles/finishers/gear sets, and I think Anet shouldn’t reward that.
How does a thread like this even exist? You do realize that’s why it’s called “hot-join”. Custom Arenas (and the people that own them) are made to be…CUSTOM.
If the person that owns the Arenas wants to allow progression, and deathmatch style, than so be it. You do not and cannot control that. Hot-join (pre-Custom Arena) was already a giant zergfest. You’re going to tell me that Hot-join shouldn’t reward glory?
What I got from the OP and the poster above me, was we should have less incentives for new players to play this game, and so forth.

All I’m saying is that hotjoins were already a zergfest, but the new custom arenas “Only Mid Point TDM glory farming” it’s a bit too much.
Why not allowing players to create Arenas where you level +10 ranks per match then? Progression is one thing, but this is different.
I don’t think the state of hotjoins/custom arenas do any good to attract new players, and anyways, I’d rather have less players who play the game for the sake of having fun/getting better/winning, instead of bringing the CoF path 1 gold farming mentality into sPvP.
And what about those of us who want to rank up without having to bother with playing in a team?
Why does everyone assume that PvP needs to be team based?
Why does everyone assume that PvP needs to be team based?
Because the game is designed that way.
Why does everyone assume that PvP needs to be team based?
Still coming with arguments against team-play? Play another game where duel matters.

This pretty much sums up why hotjoin is a plague pit that is avoided at all costs, and why tourniments are now being filled with mesmers who GS auto attack with little else, even ignoring stomps etc etc.
Because its a team based game, that’s why you need to play as a team. You don’t even need to talk to them, in fact, turn off chat if that’s your thing, but try to play the points and don’t wander with the largest group looking for easy zerg kills.
Once you realize that it will take years to get max glory rank you should stop giving 2 kittens about glory farming. If people can actully turn of their brains to farm hotjoin/zerg customs, gratz to them…
Glory rank doesnt mean anything besides cooler gear anyway, have seen rank 40-50 people playing worse than some people <35

Like those (Usually from same guild) who keep capping points without doing anything else, just farming honor all day….cheap ranks yay…
You’re going to meet those sad ppl (Many of them) if you take a tour into arenas with 2 ppl…just give it a try… xD
gw1 fame for winners only, i miss you so much…

It’s a “team based game” only because you say it is. There’s nothing preventing Anet from formalizing dueling as a separate game mode.
Why are people so militant about “team based play” anyway? What benefit does it confer?
Btw, you get more rank points in hotjoin than in tPvP. Just saying.

It is some people’s idea of fun and this is a game. Where fun is rewarded.
It is for people who want to farm glory quickly to gain ranks fast then brag that they are rank 50
