Ok, so we can’t queue outside of HoTM. We have people already frustrated with match making. And then we have obvious gold sellers who day in and day out stand right outside of the portal in the mists. So can’t we either:

• Queue outside the mist (been asked for)
• Have account settings that can be toggled to prevent whisper from strangers (been asked for)
• Detect gold sellers via the patterns they use and block them earlier (been asked for)
• Block whispers in HoTM between non-guilds/non-friends (that way at least the map chat trolls can be employed on the gold sellers)

This isn’t anything new. Block and report, move on.

I don’t think this is as big of an issue as you make it out to be. I only get something like 3 new gold sellers per week and it takes 2 seconds to block each one.

Excuse me what? I get hammered whenever I try to PvP. I’ve had 32-33 consecutive whispers from Gold Seller’s. Also, I do not appreciate the ever growing block list. Can’t tell me there won’t be performance issues with it.

Nope been around, what 3 years. But here is the difference. Gamer’s with disposable income will be deciding, as new games are coming out or as they have opportunity to invest that income in new games being developed, where that cash is going. Small things add up.

3 New a week? What is your timezone? Can get 3 news on in a 15 minute time frame.

Well today for example I haven’t had a single gold seller. The 3 in 1 week is generally on the same day.
I’m in GMT+0. It might help that I’m usually not in the central area.

I am not sure I follow. Gold sellers have been around since the beginning. That part isn’t new. Purchasing gold from a gold seller always has been, and always will be a bannable offence. The advice given from Anet has always been block and report. That part isn’t new. If someone is silly enough to purchase gold from a gold seller they risk being banned. As the old saying goes “a fool and his money are quickly parted”. They stand a very good chance of losing the $50 they spent on the game (or less if it was on sale), either way they take a huge risk in losing their investment into GW2 by buying gold from a gold seller (as well as the money they spent on the gold).

However, as far as investing in other games, that isn’t contingent upon gold sellers in the PVP lobby, or gold sellers at all for that matter. People are going to invest in games they want to play. If GW2 is not captivating their entire attention, then it either speaks to other issues with the game, or their personal preference. It would be silly to toss away $50 (or whatever they spent) on a game simply because they got a few spam messages. If they are the free to play people, they don’t stand to lose as much (nothing really), but aren’t as likely to be investing into the game via gem sales anyway. (limited gem store items, limited TP items, etc.)

So in the end, it’s an annoyance sure, but they can be blocked and ignored. Although some measures could be taken to help prevent spam PMs like that.

Had to block 3 gold sellers this morning, each wispered me multiple times. Its pretty random – some days its zero, some days its continuous untill you leave the lobby.

People who have never seen a gold seller in pvp lobby, its probably a time of day thing, dont post with “its not a problem, your imagining it” as I can assure you this isnt true.

1. Its about time someone we report as a gold seller was automaticaly blocked, why do I have to click 4 times?
2. F2P accounts should not be allowed to wisper more than 1 person per min in the pvp lobby until they level up past pvp 20.

I use the bank and auctionator in the PvP lobby regulary, it is not rarely that i just log in there, go back to the normal map and after that the next 30 minutes different gold sellers contact me, only when i visited the map – and blocking them is no use – it’s always a different one contacting me, never had the same wisper me twice…

seriously cant believe any1 complaining about gold seller in gw2.

2. group of 30 botter farming world bosses
3. all chat fill with gold seller promoting their service
4. 80% botter in pvp arena

The part that is contingent is when you have multiple factors all adding together. Gold Sellers are just part of the equation which could have been solved by other changes that may have been easier or more complex to make. Whispering is an example. If we already had options to who can/or can not whisper you then the gold sellers would be mote. There are a number of kickstarter and ongoing projects competing for gamer’s money right now that make both little and large items matter. Does it rank up there with some other issues right now, no. But should it already have been addressed and was missed, yes.
