After last few days losing streak I don’t consider myself particularly good player (still 56% win rate in ranked but i feel depressed AF because of the long loss streak (10+) ) BUT I had the bless of the matchmaking system to play with few pro league players on my team.
Personally when I know I play with weaker player, I am not the greatest team player. I enter soloQ I play soloQ. I don’t take up the initiative to do stuff because it feels somewhat pointless. However when I was matched with pro league players I am not guaranteeing this but I think I beat my damage done/personal score records. I run everywhere, cap/decap res, cleave. I know I can leave a spot to heal up when I’m being focused because I know the good players will have my back OR they’ll heal me themselves. I pull no stops, I almost sacrifice myself to resurrect them or ninja stomp the nearby downed player but not before interrupting everyone around my teammate, which I don’t actually do to someone with the Slayer rank. I’ve tried in the past, they keep dying, so it’s a waste. It just feels that leaving them to die is the better tactic regarding cooldowns that have to be spent on the weaker player and it doesn’t really weight well at all overall.
So what I’m saying is … matching bunch of really good players versus bunch of really bad to average players is bad. It doesn’t inspire teamplay. It teaches you nothing. You are just being farmed. With no chance.
I guess I’m average player but I’ll bust my kitten off to help a teammate that knows his/her stuff.
Matching me with weaker than me players makes me indifferent to my team and this in term affects my gameplay. And in the heat of the moment I don’t really give it that much thought. It’s not like I sit beforehand thinking “hey this guy looks cool, im going to help him this game!” or vice versa. If my team is playing depressingly bad, I become bad myself because I become indifferent.
Another phrase I could use in this case i guess would be that even though I’m mechanically correct with the toons I play, I’m more likely to make a bullkitten call for a team that I don’t care about one bit.
Needless to say, I’ve won every single game in which I had pro league player in the team. If this game thought me anything is that one person alone hardly makes a difference. It takes a team to win. However, it is better to have inspired teammates rather than bunch of auto attacking people around you, walking into traps and kitten.
Beside my performance being gradually better, as I see it through this subforum, If I was in a team with a proleague player it means that my team has been gradually better, while the enemy team was filled with baddies who stood no chance.
Even if that was the case, I really did perform better. I wouldn’t say the said players carried the game, on the contrary. We all played like a well oiled machine protecting low HP teammates and just making bloodbath of the enemy team which we singled out.
Needless to say, It felt like a different game. Make what you will out of this thread.
The tl;dr version in my opinion is that matching bunch of good players vs bunch of bad to average players is faulty logic.
Currently with all my creativity I can only think of joining some PvP guild and farm the leaderboard, because I seem stuck in the MMR hell T_T
