Guild Wars 2

My main(wvw toon) is a Ranger and I tried to make it work with a trap build and I’m not digging it at all.

I’d prefer a profession I don’t already have which is; Ranger, Warrior, Engy. Looking for something that can 1v1 and with some survivability since I tend to run and cap points while people are team death matching. What would be good for my play style?

I dunno, it’s a very powerful class but pretty hard to master, not great for a beginner. Thief has high mobility and is slightly easier, but I really think you should try a different build on your ranger first tbh! Yes they’re underpowered in pvp, but I still see a lot of them around – and if you want to learn the ropes in a completely new game type it’s best if you’re not also struggling with an unfamiliar class.

Warrior is Op imo. Banners. Do it.

1vs1 with survivability? Then its elementalist you want.

If for some reason u don’t want that, engy is a decent profession but has a high skill curve, ull struggle unless your a good player.

Warrior should probably be avoided till anet gives them some love, they are in a very dark spot right now in terms of spvp.

If its a challenge your looking for then engineer is the one for you. They are beastly, and 1v1 a good engi would beat a good ele everytime. IMO there isn’t much hard about ele mentalist once you learn what each ability does and the normal rotations.

An ele is a hard class to get the grasp on and will still die to a good engie.
Actually engies build is the one most people would say that has the “ability” to kill any other class.
Valkyries ele and even zerkers wont kill any bunker like bm ranger or guradians and can die to trap rangers or any high cond damage spec(assuming that you kitten up your escapes)
Though the way you described you want to play like back capping while teammates playing dm (aka hot join) id say any class thats highly mobile with good burst like thief or mobile with good 1vs1 like ele/ranger(try bm) should be fine.
Hardest to master are imo engie/ele but ele due to HIGH HEALING IN FOTM BUILDS is easier..Grenades engie though can be pretty braindead when you arent focused and just turretting with nades from high ground but the huge aoe damage will get you on top of scoreboards(if you are interested in that).

Yeah I want to avoid Theif, no offense to the thieves but, that’s a face roll class. I never get statisfaction out of playing an OP class that 80% the server plays.

thief is just as faceroll as any other profession and is definetly not op.
if you want to faceroll, play ele and just spam all skills available while changing attunements, it will work at low level play. just remember to do at least one dodge while in water, thats the only situation when you have to stop facerolling.

Thief is not OP. They make up a high percentage of hotjoins. But not in the tourney scene they are probably proportionally represented. The higher you go the less of them you see. At any rate they are certainly NOT op.
