Good reason why S/D thief is fun
Haha wow. Somebody needs his siƫsta.
I lost it at “TI PUTA MADRE”
And people wonder why the assassin class always gets nerfed.

lol the good part is this build is not even viable in tPvP.
Even when pushed at max damage, S/D is mediocre at best, even with flanking strike fixed.
Sword is slow and has bad dps ( good cleave, but it’s so slow you’re going to get more damage than you deal) and OH dagger is terribad.
It also is very ini consuming, and 80% of times you would be better with a D/P build.
But i have to say that no matters what you do with your thief, you’ll always get people hate ( and this one is not even the rudest whisper i got lol )
Its a troll build/class you should never die running it but you can pick up kills just by jumping in when someone is weak.
The risk vs reward is way off.

Exactly. It never ceases to amaze me that people are surprised when the assassin class gets nerfed. Sure, guardians are way stronger than thieves, but everyone loves guardians because they’re the good guys. So they’ll stay stronger than thieves.
Sword damage isn’t too low — dagger burst is just kitten compared to sword cleave. As long as backstab continues to take off half of people’s HP bars outside bunkers you won’t see thieves taking any swords where they actually have to work more for a kill.
It’s the same deal with pistol/pistol vs. shortbow. P/P/ is fine in itself, but shortbow is so much better thanks to cluster and infiltrator cheese.
Broken setups always have players wanting their other setups to be as broken strong. Similar to eles complaining about why can’t their utilities be more like cantrips when cantrips need to be nerfed instead of bringing the other utilities to that level.

Because it pushes people towards reactions like this one.
Now please aNet buff OH dagger and make S/D viable for tPvP,
plskthx
I get that all the time and heck when my fams plays on my F charr warr. The fam does it too and tells me my build sucks monkey brownies. I always say that’s what you get for joining Raging hotjoins you know whats in there.

Man, S/D never was bad.
Looks like you are running it while thinking it isn’t viable. Looks like a contraddiction to me.

This. One million times.
“la roba verde conviene riciclarla o venderla?” lol that’s funny xD anyway S/D is not bad only in hotjoin in tournaments is not very good, burst damage is too low.

S/D wasn’t bad but D/ overshadowed for a couple of reasons. While Tactical got balanced it now meant putting greater emphasis on main skills. Dancing daggers is a sore spot on the set putting more emphasis on inf strike and Flanking. Flanking strike was quite strong but D/ basically did the same thing, the great divider was you could strip protection and end up more or less with more damage than a BStab/HS in ideal conditions but due to the way prot can often get covered this doesn’t happen well in practice, mixed with animation times. FS fell off if trying for the same purpose of burst.
So it only had a couple niches it could fullfill. While not bad itself, for the needs most players wanted out of a thief, they could get that specific role fulfilled better without it.
On the other hand I don’t know wtf you’re talking about with P/P because it is seriously a poor set. Not relative to simply other thief sets. You could replace a D/P with a S/D or even a S/P if you wanted before and they could contribute do the same roles, you may question if they were as effective but relative to the other professions in the game it didn’t really matter because often enough they are good enough.
With P/P no, not really. It’s scope is very narrow, it’s naturally defenses are the poorest in the profession and relative to other professions it can have significant difficulty getting anything done because even if it can or cannot blow you up, it gets forced out incredibly easy without the ease of returning back that SB, S/ or D/ have.
I got multitude of compliments and questions about S/ pre-patch with players deciding they wanted to test it out and see if they could get something done with it. It wasn’t bad certainly but Sword definitely has some flaws and in a way I question LS because it’s a super-loaded skill relative to FS, which has already begone to marginalize the evade when people just hit FS anywhere to turn it into LS because it’s so heavily loaded.
Whatever though.
S/D is fun.
Unless you were dancing on there body or talking trash then talking to you like that is really uncalled for. Problem is the aforementioned behavior is seen very often in this game, and simply because of the playstyle its more common to see it from thieves. I’ll openly admit I hate thieves. I think the class is cheap and overpowered in all pvp and a liability in every way in pve. Still the players are playing within the perimeters set by anet so why be mad at people for using what they are given. Anyone would…
I honestly don’t think thieves should have been in the game in the first place. They have only caused more problems than they solved.
That’s awesome OP did it right.
Still waiting for them to make s/p awesome again. Just speeding up pistol whip so it isn’t like bull charge/frenzy/ hundred blades, where they can still walk out of it and not take the full blunt of it would do a world of greatness, at least if you had quickness so its not as marginalized as it is.
