I’ve been noticing a lot more eles this weekend in top 1000 solo queue. It is good to see and these players are quite strong. Keep up the fight.

tbh… I don’t really like to see them the way they are right now. They just found their own version of the pretty braindead meta, S/F+arcane shield, be invulnerable and cast absolutely unreadable bursts at the same time. I’m not qqing nor saying it’s op of course, but it’s pretty cheesy.

If it’s not cheesy, it’s not viable. That’s basically how Guild Wars 2 works for every class right now.

The only ele I see are pretty much tanks, like their sole purpose is to kite a Zara training them in attempt to distract the enemy while your team kills the rest.

I’m fairly new to the PvP environment in structured PvP. I love my Ele and I did find out that I’m better in group fights rather than fighting someone 1v1. though, could be my build being more DMG oriented than toughness.

Ive played with and against what are literally the best eles on the ladder (phantaram etc)….its still better to have them on the other team. And those eles know that aswell.

Nothing against those players. I respect them for playing an underdog class and they are probs mechanically better than 99% of the other players. So i will never trash them for playing the "wrong"class. But still …

It is good to see an ele on the other team. Nothing is better than watching an ele attempt their burst (s/d) and fail spectacularly. Even better, I can screw up in a fight agaisnt an ele and still not be concern about dying. Oh in a middle of a fight, I can select a episode on netflix, while I completely ignore them.

Pretty much this.
The skill cap required for an ele to do its job (DPS) is much higher than the one required for any other class.

Anet is trolling me all day it seems I’m facing engi and grouped with ele. I hate being grouped with ele. Why don’t they just play engi?

You just haven’t played with good eles.

You just haven’t played with good <insert any other class here>.

Assuming equally skilled players (i.e. average), an Ele is going to lose to most classes/builds and get blown-up in group fights.

Ele is actually in worse shape than it seems at first glance, because people don’t realize that most long-time Ele players are always playing one step ahead of everyone else. The only way Ele’s stand a vague chance of winning fights is by vastly out-playing the opponent (or burst them down when they are busy with someone else).

That is an insult to every good ele player out there. There are definitely highly talented players.

He’s actually praising them for doing good even with an underdog class. It takes skill to play an ele effectively.

I haven’t played with any bigfoot or loch ness monster, either. That’s not evidence of bigfoot being a viable GW2 class.

The problem isn’t that elementalist has a such high skillcap, good players and blah blah blah.

The problem is that a single thief makes an elementalist more like a carpet than a player.
The problem is that a single non-dodged warrior stun or eviscerate means death.
The problem is that if you manage to take a single burning proc without cleansing it, you’re dead (which means that you shouldn’t be hit at all against engi with Incendiary Powder or Necromancers with Dhuumfire).

They are pretty much as squishy as thieves (if not more), with the only difference that they are much less survivable because of the lack of evasion capability and stealth.
