Just had a tournament with 6 guardians total in the map. All are that stupid burst damage build and they can still go invuln and heal back up and block any interrupt attempts. kitten this game.

Hardly. Most matches I’ve been in I see anywhere from 1-3 guardians, it’s all engies, necros and wars. You just had good luck.

yeah dps guardian is pretty strong with alot of instant huge burst damage, which is kinda cheap. I’d dare to say that they have the highest instant burst damage in the smallest time frame of the game atm.

DPS guardians have always been incredibly strong and have been well represented on dueling servers and WvW fight clubs since launch. They’re not widely used in tPvP because they lack mobility.

Hmm. I played one today, and while it wasn’t so much faceroll cheese like warrior was (didn’t heal for nearly as much per second), it did manage to do lots of damage while taking a fair beating.

I wouldn’t call it OP, since I think that, atm, necro and warr are definitely OP and mesmer is close to being up there. As time progresses, though, that might change.

i meant instant as in an instant moment in time lol For example the focus 5, cast mace 2, smite condition mid cast and that’s like, potential 15k damage from 3 skills delivered at the same time. I meant instant as in the same time frame not the activation time.

Most of the burst builds dont use mace. They often use sword or scepter/focus + greatsword.
Moreover the guardian has to use most of its skill to burst properly.
I use Blind Exposure to stack vulnerability and I prefer scepter so :
-Focus 4 (if it bounces on the same target 6 stack of vulne)
-Focus 5
-Scepter 2 (sigil of fire should proc here)
-Scepter 3 (root)
-GS 3 + Judge Intervention + Virtue of Justice(more vulne and burn duration)
-GS 4 + Smite Condition (Focus 5 explodes)
-GS2
-Walk away

What’s left after this, is a guardian who used 2 of its meditations to burst so thats -4k heal, ans focus 5 is on cd

Low hp? No problem, press invulnerability button and heal 80% of base hp. Problems again? Just press another uncounterable shield, then deal bullkitten amount of PBAoE. Not to mention the attacker is going to kill themselves on passive retailation boon (80-100% uptime) – sometimes it’s even half of their total damage output.

There is no difference between good and bad DPS guardian… well, maybe bad guardian won’t do map objectives and just run for frags, but that’s all.

Omg guardian dps in Tpvp its terrible….no mobility and if you focused you just die in a few second… this type guardian have a massive damage but he takes too

Play burst DPS guardian you will see why there are so few of us. /smh

DPS Guardians are very strong (even tho, most have a crappy trait setup and can’t play their class) there are a view strong out there, and they have the potential to become op (when ArenaNet buffs them too much), but currently they are fine.

Exageration. You don’t even know what you’re talking about.
You sound like those players complaining about how freenzy 100b was OP, about how CnD/Backstab was OP etc…

edit: and is case you want some numbers.
a standard 10/25/30/5/0 build has 14,595 HP.
Shelter heals for 4590 / 30sec CD
Virtue of Resolve heals for 1663 / 60sec CD. So thats 3326 if you used Renewed Focus (90sec CD)
Each Meditation heals for 1980, but you need to use 2 of them to burst properly.
Even if you use ALL OF THEM at the same time it heals for 13,856 which is not even full HP. And I’m not even considering that you may have Poison on you.
You have no source of Regen except focus 4 (6sec regen if ot bounces twice on you -> 819 heal. broken.)
and no source of proctection. Your only source of Vigor is Minor Trait 5 in Honor, and some Guard don’t even go for it.

Also, Shelter is not 100% uncounterable.

Killing yourself on 80-100% retal uptime? lol.
Symbol of Wrath only gives 5 ticks of 1sec retal, leaping in the field gives 5sec retal. And even if it almost never happens you can Focus 5 in the symbol for 3sec of area retaliation.
If Retal is half of their damage, they are doing something wrong.

Honestly if you’re getting powned by them you’re probably just face-tanking their burst.

If the community complains about every long cooldown burst scenario they should of just dodged, expect a bunker/sustain meta indefinitely..
