Guild Wars 2

Heya all.

Since I’m done with my “Salty Sea Dog” Achievement I thought I’ll give you my two cents of thought about how to play this map. We tested it about 50 Fights with our guild, and the guide is based on our pretty effective strategy.

So, let me get started:

First of all, you need to realize that this map differs a LOT from the usual PVP Maps, since the actual Mid here is way closer to both homebases than Close and Far are, making it technially a “Double Close”, and thus, both parties will be able to be there quick again, even after being defeated. And Close / Far are both a bit further away from the Base than Mid is, but both also tend to be closer to the Bell.

So best way to play this map, very unlike to other maps is:

2 go close, 3 go far, and both parties try to hold the points as best as they can, completely ignoring Mid.

Until the Bell appears. Then 4 should go to the bell and 1 should flip the other points if neccessary. If not, go Bell as well.

Only go for Mid when it’s empty and you see the opponents are far away or to create distraction from the Bell in the Bell Active Phase.

I’ve noticed that playing sides on the map were also a good strategy. Particularly when you know your team lack the aoe damages & sustains to take mid efficiently.

Rangers & Revs are such a pain on this map too. If they have two Rangers, a necro + x in mid and a roaming Rev then you’re in for trouble. Especially if the Rangers are any good.

Many players get caught up in the mid fights because it’s so close, that they forget about sides or the Bell. Likewise, the Bell plays a huge roll on this particular map because if you wipe a team there, you’ll inevitably take sides by default.

I’m loving the map because it forces you to rethink Conquest.
