A message from the PvP Team:
Leaderboard decay for the Guild Challenger League will be enabled beginning today. Leaderboard decay will help ensure that only active teams remain at the top of the leaderboard. Guild Teams will begin to lose rating if they go longer than seven days without playing a conquest match in Ranked Arena. After seven days have passed the team will begin losing rating at a set interval each day. The rating lost from decay is permanent. If the guild team plays one game of conquest in ranked arena the decay timer will reset.
So essentially people will still be able to keep several teams in the top 25.
Great idea! Some teams I know were planning on not playing to keep their spot and play it safe, so this is perfect

nah, i mean who has time to play at least 1 game every week? much less 1 game for like 5 teams every week, dats lik… at least 5 games…
git a life amirite?
Huh, I don’t think you guys handled this well… I guess it’ll increase the chance of teams losing but you can easily play over 15 games in a single evening.
One match in 7 days? for these hardcore players, doesnt seem that restrictive.
Yeah, hate to say it but:
One game per week per “team” is no big deal. Fair enough they would probably have to concentrate (mainly) on one of their teams, but if they have say three teams in: Three games in one day is not hardship for them.
Personal opinion: Make the guild league account bound: Can only sign up for one team per season per account.
Should have been something like “must play 7 games over a 7 day period” (Mon-Sun)
Any dedicated team (even a casual team) can play 7 matches in a week.
1 match a week is laughable.
A whole week seems incredibly generous, especially given the season itself doesn’t last for more than a couple months. I think it’ll help some, but half that time would have been better to really weed out teams that aren’t as serious about competing.
Compared to League of Legends decay time one week is incredibly short. That said their season it also much longer than ours. I don’t think this is the way (might not even be the purpose of this change) to discourage players from being on multiple top teams. Just some thoughts nice to see they are keeping a close eye on things and tweaking things to try to make the system better.
Not good enough of a fix to address the issue, this just seems like a cover up to calm the mass and still look out for the pro players to allowing them to keep abuse the system, just slightly less.
That’s it? How is it at all difficult for Car Crashed to keep all 5 of their teams in the TOP 10 (at least that’s what it looked like last time i checked before Wintersday him the leaderboard, or at least i can’t find it anymore). It’s 5 matches…you can do those in under 2 hours in one day.
Guess i have to look forward to seeing Car Crashed own all 10 of the slots on the leaderboard.
Why are you all so hesitant to bash Anet? I promise they won’t show up at your door and scold you.
This is a terrible “fix” that will accomplish absolutely nothing. 5 Games per week should have been the minimum.

After that i suggest, we rename Leaderboards to “Car Crashed Personal Team Status” ^^
I honestly think the issue is another and different:
It’s so f***ing difficult to make a permanent team.
This is for several reasons but everyone who has a team know the huge effort required to schedule your day with other 4 guys, train together, improve together.
And you have this issue if you have already a team.
Find other 4 guys with the right mentality is another crusade.

all the guys crying for shorter time before decay comes in: dont forget some guys have a rl and want to go home or in vacations over the holidays. 7 days seems reasonable considering that xmas and new year awaits
What about rating decay for soloq? Im going afk for 9 days, how will that affect my division and pip standing?

it’s about leaderboard and especially TEAM leaderboard…. not pips nor division nor SOLO Q … U won’t loose any pips u have won .

Gaile I’m wondering, has this changed since last season to a faster decay? The reason I’m wondering is my Guild team has been top of the leaderboard for the past 5 days and we ended our game play with the team at 10:30pm PST on Thursday night. My guildmate texted me earlier that we had lost 75 points (from 1500points, 24 wins, 1 loss). It has been less than 72 hours since our last game so I’m confused as to why we suddenly lost 75 points. Is this a bug or something else?
I also posted a thread about it here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/Guild-Challenger-League-Decay-bug/first#post6013426
Well this shows what is really important to Anet… Not the majority of the players. I would like more anet players to join in with PvP and look at what a massive toxic vortex they have created with their unbalanced matchmaking, constant swearing and aggressive behavior from players who have been trodden on by anet’s screwup. Imagine if Man U played against division 1 through 4 teams until the last couple of weeks of the season? People wouldn’t watch and the non premier level teams would quit… sounds far fetched and ridiculous? That’s precisely what anet have done
