Guild Wars 2 Still in Beta!
What provoked this post? The fact that a teammate and i both attempted to kill an opposing ranger while in his downed phase underwater, and we both died in the process. How has this not been fixed yet? It’s been going on for MONTHS.
If the flaws in design at least led to entertaining pug/casual play and Anet made most of the cosmetics cost gems… I could see the game living on and having the playerbase/income to improve.
GW2 has none of that.
They probably couldn’t hire you even if they wanted since their over their budget of 2 balancing devs and a half dozen code monkeys.
Aaaaaanywas…. making SPvP servers into what Anet has announced as their ‘custom arenas’, ironically, I see as, more likely than not, a bad thing for the game.
Anyone that has been checking into and has the hopes of coming back to GW2 will be coming back roughly after the release of custom arenas.
When people realize nothing has notably changed, they will leave and Anet will be kinda kittened from all sides.
Bad game, no money to fix it, no one willing to consider playing it.

I’d balance the kitten game for free.
@TheMightyAltroll
Ditto
Also, i will bump this for years until i get a game that isn’t in beta, or an appropriate response from a dev.
I hope that they are paying attention to this, I really do.
Thanks Mighty, I’m going to tell my guild and friends list about this post as well. These are aspects of the game that needed to be fixed before the game was released… But this sort of thing happens when a company wants money.
There is not alot of money to be made in the smaller PvP hardcore playerbase.
The PvP player base already helped Anet by promoting the game like crazy before release rabid fanbois getting the casual and pure PvE types looking at the game. While there is not alot of money to be made in the free to play model from PvP players they did help promote the game, I know I never would of looked at GW2 if not for all the PvP forums talking about how good GW1 was and how great GW2 would be.
Really nothing to be done for the MMO PvP types its always been a smaller market the days of UO DAoC are long gone PvE drives all MMOs now even the ‘pvp’ focused MMOs.
Apparently you’ve never heard of WoW. World of Warcraft, whilst not entirely comparable to Guild Wars 2, was an MMO that had a successful PvP player base in the marketable/competitive scene. WoW has Arena Tournament worlds that are exclusive to those who wish to pay an entrance fee. Please do your research before making such a post.
I was on a modding team for several modifications spanning over multiple games incharge of balancing factions/classes. I honestly feel like I would be better at balancing than devs PAID to do it.
Truthfully i would just like to be an advisor. I would be totally cool with sitting on a voip and discussing all of these things with the people that knew the technical aspects of how to resolve these situations.
It is still in beta with so many nerf and fotm builds … the greatest example is the warrior, in beta it was so op that killshot was actually good, then they made it not very good but viable with the rigth support and now .. well.
These devs they still dont know what they are doing or they listen to the community more than they should.
Anet needs to learn that patches once a month is getting beyond the kittening joke….public test servers … fix emergency kitten asap not oh we are aware of it and sometime in the future we’ll resolve this massive glaring kittenstorm of solo q and premades….wake the kitten up already. If NCSoft are that far up in your kitten you can’t make changes in your work environment can’t hire more people etc etc then have the balls to say it.

2k gems for low latency server
1.8k gems for medium latency server
1.79k gems for high latency server
I fight people, sometimes they kill me, sometimes I kill them. Fun is had by all. [/quote]

1200 gems for server that “usually doesn’t lag much except when Bob hosts quake 3 arena on it. We moved some of the porn off of it but the file server is still there, not that many people download from it anymore though so it should be cool.”

That would explain something that just happened to me just now, as i’m just now realizing there’s a bug with ranger underwater downed state. I downed a ranger in WvW (not sure if bug still applys there) and he was able to gain health back faster than i could dmg him when his pet helped healed him, also his pet was hitting me like a truck while i had around 2.6k armor and able to down me, and get resed up to finish me off.
bump bump bump bump…
More bumping…
Oh… Guildwars 2 is now in Beta-Version? I thought it’s still Alpha.
With Custom-Arenas it will be definitely Beta-State, so nvm.
I do wonder where the lack of attention pvp gets comes from. They sold over 3 million games, so money isn’t the issue. They could easily flood the cash shop with pvp only skins, custom finishers, costumes, its proven people will purchase this stuff. It’s pretty clear they are understaffed, from what I know only 2 people handling the pvp side of things (easily believable). No test server and it really doesn’t seem like they but test their content before release. Does pve really make that much money for them that pvp became an after thought? What went wrong, what changed? It’s one thing if every patch delivered proper bug free BALANCE, neutered existing bugs, and applied itself to the appropriate areas the players already know about. People might not even complain, but when we have next to nothing, and close to everything isn’t right, it makes those small issues big ones to complain about.

LOL
yes i agree it is unbalanced.
This is why raid on the capricorn is not a part of tpvp.
only map that has water is temple (and the little lake in forest if u count that) , and theres no reason to be in the water.
Obviously u play hotjoin.
get out of here lmao
Bump bump bump 2
Yup Beta 3.0 Come back 3rd quarter 2014 for full release.
“Maybe I was the illusion all along!”
Adding another developer to a team doesn’t necessarily speed up development, as per Brook’s Law. The man month is a myth.
As for the game being in “beta,” I kind of agree; GW2 released as a bug-ridden product that is constantly being honed and improved. But I’m glad that I’ve gotten to play it in the meantime! I feel sorry for sPvPers who bought the game and found the PvP content to be sorely lacking, but at least I didn’t have to wait a year to play through the PvE content.
The game is in its Gamma version, guise.
Having played ff14 through release and beyond, this isn’t that bad and I feel as if some of you are overreacting or don’t have a good grasp on terrible development. In addition, compared to many companies like Blizzard or SQENIX Arenanet isn’t that large or staffed. I can agree with the sentiment that the Q/A seems lacking, but I believe its simply because they are prioritizing new content and just letting us find the bugs/balance for them as its released.
im hear gw2 beta come out today.
will they make warrior playable in final release?
Wow, dedication.
