GIve us guildhalls. Sell special features and upgrades that PVE guildies can make use of via gem store so you can make money out of it. AND THEN BRING BACK GVG.

I don’t know how long I’ll be having goosebumps and how many nerdgasms I’ll be having and how much buzz it would create on the day ANET announces that GvG is back(with a trailer featuring an actual match on warrior’s isle).

A lot of GW1 vets who didn’t bother with this game past beta will buy your game and the players you’ve lost over the past couple of months (and players you’ve permanently banned would probably be forced to buy new copies as well) will be back, I guarantee. I don’t know what you guys at ANET are even waiting for.

Another game will have come out by then, and no one will be left to care. At least that’s how much faith I have in GvG ever happening.

You know, I once had a GW1 Vet explain to me why guild rankings and GvG would save the game. He explained everything and I listened, but literally all it sounded like it was to me was Foefire with a flag in the middle of the map that you cap and run around with. I even went further to watch some videos of “amazing past games” from it and I had to say it was one of the least interesting things to watch, and because of this I had no real want to even try it. GW2’s target audience is larger than just the small PvP community it had in GW1, for an E-Sport to actually take off the important thing is the casual players (as funny as that sounds). There needs to be a market of players that wish to get better so they spend time watching events and other such activities or there will be no funding for the “top players” to compete. I think the dev’s did well to choose the gamestyle they did, however some space age meta needs to be less tanky and predictable to make it more exciting

Small PvP community? Good to know. When this was an active game, thousands have played Heroes’ Ascent, Team Arenas, Alliance Battles, jade Quarry, Fort Aspenwood and GvG at the same time.

There were more than 1 thousand active PvP guilds playing GvG for srs.

this makes no sense since most of the abilities are area-related and perfect for defending zones.

We probably won’t be sure how well GvG could work in GW2 unless we try it out…

Besides, GvG doesn’t necessarily have to be 8v8 IMHO, you can go for 5v5 or 6v6 if it works better with the way GW2 is played.

I don’t see an inherent Problem with GvG and having no dedicated Healers that couldn’t be solved by minor balance-tweaks and changes in the number of players.

In 8v8, it could maybe become a Problem if it’s just too easy to snipe sth. down in the blink of an Eye, but I don’t think pressure-DMG will be a huge Problem if ANet tweaks certain builds a bit, so we have good full-healers, like for example:

- Clerics-Amu Ele that is made a little less tanky than he is now, but with equal or maybe even better Teamheal-potential.
- Shout-War with lot’s of CC could be viable too in 8v8, because what he lacks in pure DMG and 1v1-strength, he can make up for in Teamfights.
- Staff-Ele’s could become much better simply because of the Number of Players.
- Guardians could play a bit more geared towards support (some teams even use Staff-support builds in 5v5 Conquest.)

I don’t see a big Problem in standard-builds like tanks becoming obsolete. Yes, they could become a bit less important (which isn’t a bad thing I guess), but in GvG, there is still a Flagrunner (if the Guard can’t run fast enough, the runner gives him the Flag before you put it into the Pole) and there are Guild-Halls to defend and other Map-dependant objectives.

IMHO, If ANet decides to go for 5v5 or 6v6, there is maybe the need to change sth. about the Flagrunner – could be kinda weird to have 1 Player constantly running in a Team of 5. But you could easily get rid of that Problem by making the Flag spawn only at certain times or sth. like that….

Besides: ANet said that they will bring back GvG at some point (at least that’s what I’ve heard), but there are probably simply too many things on their plate at this point, so we just have to w8.

Or you could just decide not to use a flag. Guild versus Guild needs only 2 or more guilds fighting each other. Other stuff is related to the game mode being played. GvG means guild fighting. Seems in Guild Wars 1 also a game mode was called like that. I think in Guild Wars 2 it only should mean that guilds are fighting. And there should be different game modes(that could also be played by groups of random in tournament or hotjoin).

Killing the Lord seems interesting. Also someone mentiond it would be like Foefire + a flag in the middle. I read in the Guild Wars 1 wiki flag gave something like 10 percent moral boost. They would need to make some different buff for Guild Wars 2.

I think the castle with the lord should be a bit more interesting(doors harder to destroy). Foefire it is boring and the doors are weak. They could place stuff like explosives on the map you need to fight for.

You can add tons of stuff. There could even be the conquest mode mechanics… but not giving points to a “get 500 points mode”. Could be that you need 1 capture point in front of the enemy gate and without having captured it the gate would be invulnerable.

Or siege weapons in the castle to defend(and some different way to get to the castle without being attacked by them and the possibility to capture them and use them against the defendrers inside).

Edit: I think we need a map/ game mode contest! Could be interesting for the community and they could advertise it on the main page in the news to get a bit attention for sPvP. People should send their ideas and maybe a small paint made map how the finished map should look and ArenaNet chooses one of the maps and makes it into a sPvP game map ingame.
