My frands! Let us all stop focusing on how terrible the leaderboards are and focus on the bigger picture! The big picture is how to make Guild Warts 2 into the best game ever and the gr8 game we know it can be! This needs to be a collaborative dev and player effort! We will succeed my frands! We have the power! So let’s all stop worrying about the godawful leaderboards because honestly it doesn’t matter! The only thing that matters is making Guild Warts 2 gr8!
The first issue we should tackle is how to get more people to play this gr8 game! How many of you think the combat system is gr8! Well if it’s so gr8 then how come this game is so dead! Let’s work on this problem my frands! Everybody pitch in your ideas! Vee Wee thinks it’s because there’s only one game mode! Gosh conquest is so goshdarn played out and so goshdarn BOOOOOOOOOOORING and goshdarn it we deserve more! Arena is the best option for a new game mode for many reasons! The maps are small and easy to design compared to larger conquest maps! You can make it a hotjoin! I don’t know why you would, but it’s Anet’s requirement for new game modes so let’s make it happen! It’s also ESPOOORTS! Goshdarn it the game is called Guild Warts 2 but guild don’t matter and the company name is called Arenanet but there are no arenas! What next! Heartseeker getting buffed????
Once we get new people we can separate players into tiers or ranks! No more shall the grand viscounts of PvP smash the little plebs whining about celestial amulet and turret Engis! Little whining plebs will face other subpar players whilst the wizards of PvP face off against one another in matches that radiate energy! Sparks will fly! Then PvPers will actually have a goal to work towards! A lowly commoner can aspire to rise in the ranks to become a legend of the arena! A real Cinderella story that this game desperately needs! Nobody cares about reward tracks! PvPers don’t even open the boxes! PvEers throw most of the stuff away! Useless!
Once again my frands this is a collaborative effort! Let us unite and make Guild Warts 2 the amazing game we know it can be! Let us unite and show the esports community that we can compete! Let us unite and show the world how cooliobeans a dodge feature in PvP is! Let us unite and show the world that Guild Warts 2 is truly the greatest game in the universe!
Also change the terrible leaderboards.
Wahoo! Bye frands!

Couldn’t agree more, but the optimistic side of me that always seems to be the reason why I cry myself to sleep does want to believe that this new system will allow them to be much more flexible in the future once they get it working properly. Kinda like an infrastructure if you will.
Easy fixes:
1. Hire a balance team or at least get the balance team to…wait for it… actually implement balance changes.
2. Have someone focus on leaderboards. The person who plays the most shouldn’t be at the top.
3. Never ever match a 5 person premade against a pug team
4. Make it easier for people to find team mates. Since ANET wrecked the solo experience with this new system, they really need to address this.
Woah you make all that sound sooo simple……. calm your horses ponyboy
Hello frands! Vee Wee here, retired #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80!
I think there should be more frequent patches! Look at how often Counter Strikes, the most esports FPS, updates their game! http://blog.counter-strike.net/index.php/category/updates/ Dec 4, Dec 10, Dec 11, Dec 15, Dec 18! Gosh if only Guild Warts 2 was like that!
Anet makes huge balance patches every 6 months! That’s just crazy long! And when balance time rolls around, they say they just “shave”! Well bros you can’t shave every 6 months! You shave frequently! That’s the point of shaving! If something is obviously broken like DD celestial Elementalists, you fix it immediately and not have everybody wait literally half a year! That’s Vee Wee’s thoughts!
Wahoo! Bye frands!

I haven’t paid much attention to CS. What is the prize pool on their tournaments?
I haven’t paid much attention to CS. What is the prize pool on their tournaments?
Well, 3 weeks ago they had a tournament with a prize pool of $250,000
I haven’t paid much attention to CS. What is the prize pool on their tournaments?
There are so many CSGO tournaments! Right now they are streaming two tournaments for B-list teams! One with a $10,000 prize and one with a 50,000$ prize pool! (a + 5 + $ is censored lol) Once again they have tiers to separate players and teams based on skill level for more esports! In Guild Warts 2 there are no tiers so the D-list teams go against the A-list for huge 500-0 stomps! How discouraging is that for new teams! Very! It’s like taking a middle school basketball team and matching them up against the Knicks! And yes there was a $250k tournament a few weeks ago and another $250k tournament a few months ago! And many more before that and many more soon to come!
But if we’re talking about the esports side, Counter Strikes has been around for like over 5x the time that Guild Warts 2 has been around! So that aspect is irrelevant! What is relevant is how they set everything up! They have tiers! They have good matchmaking based off their tier system! They have a team that not only balances well, but balance in a reasonable amount of time! Recently in CSGO there was an uproar over a map and how certain people exploited a feature! Well it was fixed in under a week! How long did Anet take to change Skyhammer! Over a goshdarn year! And it’s still terrible! Anet is just TOO SLOW! Slow and steady does not win the race! If the rabbit wasn’t a lazy lagomorph, he would have won! He would have won 5 times over!
Wahoo! Bye frands!
PS Why do swear filters exist for a game where your primary goal is to wipe out local wildlife and/or brutally murder other people for money! Poaching! Killing! Drinking alcohol! Stripping down to your undergarments and running around in the street! That’s ok! SWEARING IS BAN WORTHY!

I think it all comes down to communication and expectation between Anet and the Player community.
Players wanted a better leaderboard. Anet took that feedback and designed a backend and front end system that took into account far more variables than before. That’s good. So players were excited about the prospect of individual “best” boards. The problem was that the players did not expect a full MMR wipe and the imbalance that would cause in the near term. The second assumption it seemed was that more professional groups would gravitate towards eSports and most casual teams would head to Ranked matches. What was missing was thoughts about the casual solo queue player. The previous queues worked, I don’t believe we asked for them to go away. We need to separate the casual solo player who just wants to play the game from the casual teams and pro teams. I don’t think we need to worry about “divisions” so long as the MMR works as designed. However I don’t think any system can take into account team synergy between pugs and pre-mades.
The CDI’s that went through seemed a good way to fix communication between the players and the mods but I’m not sure if that was successful. I think that a new form of feedback between Anet and the players on what we want needs to be reviewed. The forum changes also show that the mods are getting “too much” to review (see also request for player mods) and are overwhelmed. I don’t think that a forum is a good place for this type of communication. I would say that the best idea would be to use pointed surveys to the PvP community with a good response rate to judge changes moving forward. A single way to give feedback in an organized manner due to the lack of people on staff at Anet and the amount of people who enjoy pvp. Then you need to adjust for trolls while at the same time mining the data for the gems.
More then needs to be communicated back to the players about the work being done. I think everyone agrees that the balance is actually good (aside from some cheese builds). It’s really about minor changes to runes and some utilities to put things back into place.
My suggestion: Use Reddit AMA’s and pointed surveys to the playerbase. Mine your playerbase data to include as many PvP participants as possible and send those players in game links to the Surveys. Start small to rebuild the faith of your community.
Suggestion for Players: You need to post more videos on Youtube since twich is not searchable through google. You need to link your twitch and youtube channels. Guilds need to focus less on TS (it’s great but Pug’s don’t use it) and advertise about helping with builds, mechanics, and putting together pugs teams. The goal should be more available content within the last month to 2 months. Searches of sPvP through Youtube shows not a lot of PvP in the last month. If PvP guilds posted 1 match a week, you would flood the first 3 pages of Google.
It’s not really a lot of work but it is organization and it seems that while ESL, Mistpedia, and WTS are great for eSports, it does not really help the community over all if the pros aren’t posting more videos. GW2 shouldn’t be a second job but if you are serious about PvP then 1 hour a week to capture some games is not that bad.
Why do you fell you need the ability to swear or sling slurs?
I take my kids to the beach. Folks are wearing bikinis and skimpy swim wear. That doesn’t entitle folks to fling profanities and slurs at my kids or me or my grand kids, or anyone else for that matter.
Vee Wee I want to marry you, it’s just a pity you’re an american, or at least someone on NA.
Holiday is coming and the staffs will mostly likely going for holiday by the time they come back it will be half way in for January and we have another biggest Tournament on March 7 with the same boring Cele D/D ele facing off a warrior for an entire game that nobody care to show on the screen because they know it was boring, Did I just say they know their game is boring to watch?
-Where is the advertising for the next step of PvP balance patch?
-Where is the announcement for Public Test for the new game mode? Or are we really going to go through another Skyhammer version?
A video game became famous because of players like them but not the Developers, be it MOBA or FPS.
A sport became famous because of Fans like them but not the Players, be it Football or Hockey.
If you really want a lot of fans to watch your Tournament so badly then first you really need a new game mode that can be enjoyed by either watching or playing by anyone and not just Pro. Once you had a great game mode it will create more players and more players will create more fans and more fans will create more profit.

i would not allow this anyway
Anyways back to the topic at hand! Guild Warts 2 needs improvement to become the most esportsest bestest game in the universe!
not going to happen with this game or any current mmo out there.
if they wanted a true esports style mmo, they would have to be primarily concerned with pvp above all other aspects of the game. that means constantly being on top of class balance and matchmaking. since there is no MMO currently to my knowledge that does put pvp above pve, mmos will continue to be on the outside looking in.
look at the big esports games, do they encourage you to play pve or pvp? some dont even have a pve option.
additionally, the demographics of pvp and pve players are completely different. they want different things, class balance is different, and generally have very different personalities. a hybird game satisfying both doesn’t have a positive outlook ever, neither side is truly happy or unhappy…it creates mediocrity.
and within the pvp community there are 2 general sub groups, objective pvp, and deathmatch. again, mixing these 2 doesn’t make either side happy. but unlike a hybird pve/pvp game, you can makea successful game with a huge population with objective and TDM game modes. and i would be willing to wager a considerable amount of money that the community for a game like this would be very large.
but the biggest thing that a MMO could ever do for itself (i’ve suggested it to soooo many devs but they always scoff at it), is make a voice chat that is in game, no need for 3rd party com clients. you join in a pvp game and are automatically connected to the other players. when the game ends you are disconnected. (if console games do it why the bleep don’t superior PC games?).
Some company ought to buy the PvP system from ArenaNet and spend the money to make it right.
New maps. A real bracket system. Effective tutorials and 1v1 trainers.
Go through the classes and streamline them a bit so that the game will be easier to watch, and new people can pick it up faster. Keep the essence. Get rid of the gimmicks and irrelevant builds that no one ever uses.
Well my frand let’s not immediately jump to OUTSURCE PVP PLIZ!
But you are right my frand the game needs new maps! The game needs to be easier to watch for the sake of espoooooooorts!
Wahoo! Bye frands!
