Elite specs are instantly unlocked once you enter pvp room. There shouldn’t be a problem there. So you could stick to the “meta” build.
My suggestion though is to keep playing, keep practicing. There’s no such thing as a guidebook on how to play properly (Though it seems we’re heading that way -sad face- ).
Practice makes the master.
It really is a matter of experience.
Also, finding a good mentor who can watch you play and critique you can help a lot. As for general tips and tricks I can provide from here, I suggest watching the videos this guy has:

I would suggest using a mace/shield with great sword if your gonna play vanilla warrior.
Going with the 2 stances and either bulls charge or the stomp with rampage. Hammer imo doesnt really work anymore in pvp. Everyone has huge amounts of stability and/or stun breakers.
I suggest the mace shield for the F1 stun which is 3 sec but they will probably have stability or a stun breaker. Either way it fine because mace also has a block to go with shield. If they dont you obviously go from the stun into hundred blades to try and get the dps or jump in rampage form.

I could have grabbed any warrior name, I just did emkelly because of a personal joke, and also because he did put up that decent warrior 101 thread, which the OP could go read.

You are on exactly the right track to become excellent at Warrior with all of the things that you’re being conscious of – Your positioning and movement, skill cooldowns, ect. I have to drop in with the others and say that continually practicing will make you the beast mode player that you want to be. For the mechanical side of things I’d say experiment with different key-binds and take some time to see if they are efficient enough for you.
The mechanical parts of play will take up a good portion of your learning time because you have to feel around and see which binds are most natural for you. If you have a multi-button mouse you could bind one of the buttons to Alt+ or Shift+ through software and then use Alt+1-5 to activate your utility skills. Also you could bind keys around WASD. The main thing is to figure out which binds will allow you to translate your actions into the game accurately and fluidly and don’t distract you in the heat of battle.
