ANET emphasizes the fact that we have one of the best communities as an MMORPG. But, for the longest time since I’ve been playing PvP, I have to say this PvP is the exception.

Today I queued up in unranked, some with a few guildies and some alone, and ran into so many games where people would just stop playing and just type to map or team raging at others. Some games I would have people just going AFK when we aren’t in the lead.

And my last game prior to writing this post, I had 2 people go AFK when we were only 30 points behind (score was like 250 -220) because they didn’t want to play anymore. Nobody said a word in our team or map chat to ignite argument.

Maybe it’s unranked or whatever, idk. I don’t mind if I lose, but when I lose because people stop playing to just type to chat about how they think this person is bad or w/e it ruins playing PvP. I shouldn’t have to wait 5-10 minutes just for a game of PvP to pop up in unranked, only to see my teammates suddenly AFK.

ANet, I would consider looking over stricter AFK rules. I can understand if someone DC’s or has connection issues, but people deliberately giving up to go AFK is very demoralizing for anyone to play through – feels like a waste of time.

I think it is just a component of bad matchmaking. A lot of rage quitters are put into games where they aren’t good enough to compete. No one wants to admit they are not good enough, so the easier solution is to blame your team mates and leave.

It’s not going to get better. People are raging because they get cced into a wall until they’re dead, immob for 5 seconds while getting 1-shot or melted by some broken build while the camera is stuck in a tree or the ceiling of the Khylo tower. The game used to be much more fun than this but balance has always been getting worse.

THings are not going to change with Mesmers being able to moa people twice in a row.

Dude you can’t give all of those outlier examples of a bad match and say that any of that is a consistent way to lose.

Some of the things people complain about in this forum happens so infrequently or not at all.

I’m starting to think I must be in the perfect MMR bracket where every at least tries the whole game even if they’re bad.

Even my bad games seem fair and good. I’ve had maybe one match where someone was mean or rude and it was a guy on the other team who WON. Lol

PvP is pretty competitive yeah. I run into games where people talk trash to each other cross teams on map chat and I think it’s cool. I dunno usually I don’t run into a string of games where I get this many AFK/team ragers. Maybe just today bad luck for me or something…

Yeah you were just stuck in the "I suck so I will point everyone else’s mistakes out" and the "I get points when I lose so I’m just going to afk and youtube" crowd.

I came to make a thread on exactly this. So far today I’ve played 15 games and 9 have had a leaver. Either on my team or the opponents. It is great we have more people now, but not so great that we have more leavers too. Currently there is no repercussions so people are just leaving as they please be it ranked, unranked. It really ruins the match for the other 9 players.

Its gotten to the point where I wont even que for unranked anymore because of the it’s ok attitude of leaving a ranked game. It’s begun spilling over to ranked.

I’ve gone as far as asking people via mail to not que ranked if they cannot commit the time or effort to finish a game. The general response I’ve gotten to these mails is “go kitten your self and anet wont do kitten”. This attitude is a problem.

Could anet please look into some sort of leaver penalties. Here are some options that could be put in place:

• Put these leavers on an island where they can ruin games amongst them selves.
• Give us a afk/leaver report feature. To many reports suspends you from spvp for x amt of time
• Punish leaver rewards for x number matches (where x is the number of games on the account that they have left).
• Punish daily PvP rewards for being marked as leaver(affects next days rewards).

I had a slew of these last night. I can’t really blame someone going AFK when you’re down 100 to 450 but I had someone leave when we were only down 20 >.<

I think the solution to people leaving or going AFK on wide margin losses is to just include a surrender option like League of Legends so we can get on to the next match that isn’t a mess.

On the tighter matches where people go AFK or leave, add a way we can report these people.

Suggestions above are pretty good. When someone dc’s, it’s pretty much out of their control, and I don’t mind that because it happens at some point to all of us no matter how good of internet we think we have. Right now there’s just no way to punish people who just AFK or sit at spawn and move here and there just so they don’t get kicked from game.

I think reporting for AFK should be added. If a player gets too many reports for being AFK then could have Anet evaluate the player and see what they are doing if possible. Right now, probably not easy since there’s nothing like a record method for pvp games, but I’m sure there’s some way to look at pvp game logs and damage taken/given and points earned logs for that reported player.

I love the idea of a griefer/afk server designated for people with dishonor, so they can just play with eachother and troll. Like the GTA:V hacker servers.

The only time I AFK or quit is if I see my teammates ignoring team chat and just playing like idiots. At that point, they don’t even deserve a win.

Also, it is very discouraging to play when so many players are running op condi builds, feel like just giving up at times.

I was one of those ragers/afks, i am not proud of it and i am really sorry. However here is the things that frustrate me:

1) the camera in Kyhlo and Temple, when the thing starts rotating, bumping into walls, blocking my view, it literally causes me motion sickness – if this happens in some important fights, i just alt+f4 and chill for 10 minutes.

2) The skill discrepancy – in some of the games, i am the worst player and i cannot kill anyone. Let me describe what happens, i go home, i die, i go mid, i die, i go mid, i die, i go far, i die, etc. – i spend more time being dead than actually playing the game. If this happens in a few games in a row… alt+f4

3) Stealth – getting +1 from a mesmer without even see it coming is just… frustrating.
So much access to stealth(while in combat) with relatively low cooldown and no counterplay is just wrong.

4) too many cheesy builds, that are extremely unfun to play against, e.g. condi mesmer

5) too many bunkers. One of my last games that made me quit gw2 was on foefire –
after playing 7-8 minutes and i was finally downed(not dead!), i looked at the score and it was 70-80 to 70-80. The enemy team was something like 2 bunker guards, mm necro, ele and mesmer.

I am still lurking the forums and hoping for something to change, because i really liked the game, but the amount of bullshlt and cheese is just mind-blowing.

1. This is the only one I aggree on, but no reason to afk. Everyone has the same problem so….
2. I suggest to stay with teammates instead of running somewhere alone. Also find people to duel so you can train:)
3. Stealth is a common mechanic, but not a huge problem. When people get out of stealth counterburst and CC them, that will teach em.
4. Easy to play yes, unfun, thats an opinion. People are free to play it and like it. And condi mesmer isnt that hard to counter.
5. Tbh I dont see that many bunkers. If you happen to find bunkers, dont waste time to solo them but rather try to outnumber them and you will kill them, pulling them out of rotation and with 4v5 temp.

Training is important. Try to play many different builds on many classes. It will let you understand their weaknesses and strength better:)
And check your bloodpressure regulary of you rage that much, just for your own safety:D

i had a guy afk for over 5 matches reported by 5 different teams and as u can see even screen shots of him gloating about him being untouchable by the devs and that he has been reported loads of times for it with no consequences. yet hes still playing
