Has the meta changed?
Before the patch:
d/d cele ele
rifle nade cele engi
shoutbow cele warrior
After the patch:

shoutbow cele warrior
Yes, balance at it’s finest. lol @ the balance team and anyone on the forums who thought might stacking was the issue. Hint: it is the cele amulet.
Also, if you see fewer d/d cele eles, it is because of a few of them are trying staff cele ele. Notice the cele part.
take 1 cele rifle engi
pick either 2 cele dd or 2 cele shoutbow or 1 of each
take 2 of any other class you want
and that sums up the meta
0 counterplay
take 1 cele rifle engi
pick either 2 cele dd or 2 cele shoutbow or 1 of each
take 2 of any other class you wantand that sums up the meta
And now ask yourself the question- is it bad? I don’t remember there ever being meta in which every class had it’s place. And now 3-4 people with sustain + 1-2 dps roamers, made of almost any class composition, are considered good comp.

I still do think Eles and Engis are slightly above the other classes and could use some shaves, but I agree overall that balance right now is pretty acceptable.

I don’t think it’s the amulet, eng’s are just like 5 classes combined into 1. Has there ever been a meta where ENG’s weren’t the best class in the entire game?
The meta has been the same for years! Half your team builds to stand on point! The other half builds to explode people! The only thing that has changed is what classes can do what!
Wahoo! Bye frands!

You seem to have some personal vendetta against engineers. Do you ever have any actual facts to back up any of your wild opinions?

This doesn’t explain cele ele or cele shoutbow.
Also, saying engi’s have always been OP is not correct. Certain specs in all classes are OP at times. It is just that engi has 2 really great PvP specs right now: cele rifle nade spammer, and turret engi (for pug matches)

Ok…… 25 stacks of might still offers 750 power and 750 condition damage…. without that cele ele puts out very little damage. The class stacks might easily and are able to use all their skills effectively with cele. 750 condi to a class that has long burns is going to hit hard and going from power in the 1500s to 2ks is a ridiculous thing.
Warriors have consistently had a place in the meta because they start with high health and armor which is a huge base advantage. They have absurd healing for a bruiser class comboed with easy access to burning. Oh and it’s fairly simple to learn.
turret engies have always and will always be an excuse to play pvp without actually playing. Anet probably won’t nerf because they like the idea that anyone can step in and be highly competitive which is ironic because it pushes out people that want skill based rewards so they feel that they can improve. The community has been consistent in its feelings with regards to this and if it hasn’t changed yet it probably won’t.
Cele engie has absurd damage with grenade spam which combines with a slippery cc low counter build. The problem is that it does more damage and tanks better than most b rate builds. It can therefore fit in most situations and can still use that ridiculous supply crate.
None of this really matters though as they balance semi annually and barely when they do, so just don’t expect it to change. Hold hope that specializations will allow for easier balancing.
No but they weren’t aiming to change the meta last patch, just ‘shave’ it to bring further balance to the existing meta.
I believe anet likes the current meta because it is arguably the most balanced the game has ever had. But I personally would prefer a zerk vs bunk meta without celestial.

The last balance was a lazy attempt to appeal to people who said the meta was broken and dominated by d/d cele ele, rifle cele engi, and shoutbow. ANET focused on the wrong thing and did nothing to fix the core issue.
Cele should be nerfed hard in PvP.
Yup. Might stacking was always a thing. Cele in it’s current form was not. They nerfed the wrong thing.
Might stacking has been overpowered for 2 years.

This I agree with. Regardless of Celest Ele, which in my humble opinion could still use some trimming (Mostly less damage for being a fully defensive spec), might has been a bit too powerful. This is beyond just a sPvP thing, too. PVE, WVW, anywhere, the difference of the haves and have nots gets to be a bit too much, especially when one person can selfsustain it.

True, Might did need to be shaved down and grats to them for doing it. But the core problem was the amulet that they left completely untouched.

Yeah, they certainly didn’t fix or address many of the issues. Especially correctly. I can’t say I was particularly fond of the last balance patch. The note about reducing the cast time on Necromancer’s warhorn skill from 1 second to .5 to “increase mobility” really threw me.

if we want see a gw prospective
GW1 team meta were:
- spike team (full dmg)
- bunker team (full defensive)
- balanced (50% dmg and 50% defensive)
on gw2 we can see
- dps build (full dmg cond or zerg)
- bunker build (defensive)
- cele build (50% dmg and 50% defensive)
now whats wrong on take cele build in gw2??? for my point it’s nothing wrong
is a balanced build and depend on player if can run this
I’ll just leave this here

In case you missed it. He’s saying there’s deliberately some unbalances between two distinct classes in order to provoke creative play. A class may win in a 1v1 vs another, but group composition can balance that out.
The question is, what kind of group composition + creative play balances a full Cele sustain team? I have a few composition ideas myself that i’d like to try.

against cele engi:
bring as many condi- / terror-mancers as there are engis. we hate necros.
against cele ele:
shatter- or PU-mesmers. eles hate confusion.
abuse the necros as bunker with plague-form and let the mesmers nuke from off point.
there you go, 100% hardcounter against a cele-engi / -ele team.
