Having strange matchmaking in ranked
Hi Anet,
I’m one of the aforementioned guildies and I can confirm there is something very wrong with Amazona’s matchmaking.
This afternoon 3 of us queued up. Amazona had less than 10 ranked games played, Chilly had 12 and I had none before this current league season. The caliber of the opponents we were facing was certainly way above what you would expect with no ranked MMR history. We lost 7 in a row (at least, can’t see further than that on history).
As soon as Amazona stopped queueing with us we have currently won 3 games. We are most definetely without him facing people with more similar MMRs. I should mention that Amazona’s winrate and matchmaking woes continue for him when solo queueing,
It seems to me (have seen this mentioned on reddit also) that Amazona may be getting matched up based on his unranked MMR but that’s just a hunch. Obviously though this is at odds with the developer response that says they are completely seperate.
Would really appreciate a dev response for Amazona on this.
Thanks

I took a look at your record and here is what I see:
You had a decently high MMR already in ranked. When the season started, you went on an amazing win streak which, paired with more volatile ratings, shot you up even higher. It now appears to be settling back down to where you were before leagues.
Remember that when playing in a party, your MMR is boosted. Also the population in ranked is much higher than before, so ratings will be shifting around as new and old players come into Ranked and establish their skill level.
Thanks for the feedback and I expect your streak to turn around soon!
Bra (80 Guard), Fixie Bow (80 Ranger), Wcharr (80 Ele)
Xdragonshadowninjax (80 Thief)
Mmr reset for leagues or the removal of mmr affecting matchmaking would have fixed this issue for many players.
MMR is there for a reason.
MMR is there for a reason.
It doesn’t make sense to have Division system and MMR at same time..
Players should be matched based on their divisions. Yes, players like Helseth would have easy games early, but then later they would struggle against one each other… now they will permanently struggle against each other…
Yea I’ve noticed similar when queuing up with guildies, most of whom were pretty new to pvp in general. They had been winning, or at least having even matches til I joined, then we lost a few matches, against players that were easily more experienced than most of my team. So I assumed it was due to my being in the party mostly. Not sure how things went for them after I left the party.
Thank you for your fast response!
I never thought that my mmr was that high, but i guess this explains a lot then. I’ll play more matches and see how it goes.
Regards, Amazona
