Heavy Light [Trait Discussion]
I don’t even see many DH’s running with longbow anymore. Not to mention deflecting shot has a pretty obvious and slow projectile that you can either dodge or strafe away from.
Deflecting Shot (LB 3) and Symbol of Energy (LB 4) are best used while kiting since they are omnidirectional skills. You can fire deflecting shot directly behind you while running.
Just going to throw this in here because obviously different people worked on the DH/Tempest specializations, but Lightning Orb (Air WH 5) does not have the same benefit…

I see them every single match…..

i had a nice post but got lost due to log in. its better because:
if u fighting against guard, u know where/when the kb is coming.
if u is a guard, u can control and know when the kb is going to proc

Give every class 40 dodges in a row then talk.

Imagine using a block. You dodging then would be just as useless as letting it hit you. The skill has a 1/4s cast time, almost instantly. You can’t just strafe that far unless you are 900+ range away.
Skills like Magnet (which is unblockable pull) actually need a long cast time and have a much higher cooldown. Same goes for basilisk venom etc.
it was a nerf
it was a nerf
Theoraticly yes, its “cooldown” went from 8 to 10s . However now it’s an on command unblockable interrupt. Previously it was only “controllable” in the beginning of the match, knowing it was off cooldown.
It’s a buff
Deflecting shot is so slow my grandmother can side step it and she uses a zimmer frame.
joking aside it was a nice change for DH since previously it was all random and now it promotes proper use. It is however extremely easy to avoid. Its a big glowy thing that moves sooooo freaking slow.
Lastly as mentioned above there are a lot less LB DH out there now given that metabattle made the symbolic build META, expect to see even less going forward.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
Given that the symbolic build has gone meta, also expect to see less trap bursts and more bruiser DH that you can’t kill if you ain’t a rev.
However now it’s an on command unblockable interrupt.
I wouldn’t call it an “unblockable interrupt” though, since if you have stab up it won’t interrupt and can be mitigated. It goes through blocks so that part is unblockable, yeah.

have you complainers actually tried to LAND a deflecting shot in the middle of a skirmish against someone that knows how to strafe?

First of all, read my post good. I am not complaining. Am I annoyed by it? Yes. But I am purposely making this post to see what your toughts on it are, mayby chaning my mind.
And yes, I play DH on occasion, and it’s pretty easy to land it when an enemy is blocking.
Please keep your post constructive and give actual feedback on the trait.
the only class that stays stationary while blocking is rev and revs can stack 2 stacks of stab per dodge.

i thought u were being honest, but i think this is really just a veiled qq. it is a counter to a block. yes. but it doesn’t do a lot of dmg, it is easy to dodge if u aren’t already channeling something. it has its + and its -

You compare A GM trait tied to Deflecting shot and compare it to Magnet Pull and Bask Venom having long cast times and mediocre CDs? Those CCs are tab target or applied if successfully landing a hit. Where as Deflecting Shot is a legitimate skillshot, where you have to actually aim and fire. The projectile moves slow, can neutralize the knockback with stability and can miss if blinded. It’s a skillshot, it deserves to be a good unblockable CC when traited especially with a GM slot tied to have a knockback. Deflecting Shot also has it’s problems as well either with terrain, or something else since there have been some times It’ll look like it dead on hits a person but doesn’t register it leaving them unaffected by the skill.

Deflecting shot in general has trouble aiming up ledges with it’s ground targeting. Whenever someone is plateauing the Dragonhunter on higher ground, the Heavy Light cannot hit. This can be exploited in certain maps. Example: plateau side nodes in Legacy.
Ultimately this trait change has rendered exploitable ways of defending vs. Heavy Light to those who are wise enough to abuse the problem vs. the Dragonhunter.

Good point, I guess you are right with that. Thanks!
