Please can you update us? I do not understand what is currently going on. Ever since the 15th there has been nothing to inform us.
I am one of the top NA mesmers in P-TPvP. I did not cry when my phantasms got a LOS nerf(deserved), i did not say anything when they made it so if a character dodge/block’s ect.. it wont even summon; meaning we have to land one attack “twice” for damage (which is ludacris, and no other class has to deal with this), I did not cry about the berserker nerf since it was an accident.
But what is really ticking me off is that nothing is being said or disclosed to the players.
Every day i sit at mist trying to get a team together for Tournaments and even when i do, there is not enough teams to play one. I see people quitting pvp by the dozens every week. You have made a huge mistake by even putting such a high price on paids or even one at all(it seemed good on paper to do that, im sure) but people finally get 5 tickets, and get stomped on the first map in paids by a good team. The difference of skill from free tournaments to paids is huge so people just give up.
There are so many bugs in the game right now. Not hearing anncouncments, berserker nerfed by mistake, stealth seems broken now(people can still see you in stealth at times) and the list goes on. Classes are not imbalanced, D/D ele is too good with auras, engis seem useless.
This is not just me talking this is all the top players in NA PvP, from team pz, ptc, and many more amazing players…
All we would love to know is, is anything set in motion for PvP small or big for pvp? Should we just quit PvP? Is gw2 just a PvE game now since almost all the big updates are about PvE and holiday events?
I really love this game, and do wish to play it more but if gw2 keeps going down the road it’s headed im afraid pvp will cease to exist. I would not be mad about anything if they disclose to the public; that we know X is broken and X is being fixed while we are working on the next Y.
I believe that another post talked about how Transparency is paramount to success. WELL IT IS! please update us.

Maybe, i feel like pvp is slowly dieing…… Out of 400k people that play or used to play this game we cant get 64 to play tournaments…….

Jonathan, can you comment on the ESL interest in your game? I mean this should be huge for you guys that a prominent league WANTS to pick up GW2 right? Whats the ETA on private servers?
Other than that I agree with the OP that you should really look into lowering the cost of paid tournaments and eventually work towards a matchmaking ladder, so you don’t need 8 teams to play a tournament (just 2). Paids are getting better lately, I think last night there were 3 simulatneous tournaments. You guys should keep pushing hard to make this game big in PVP and it’ll help your sales in PvE as well.
i have dozens of tickets saved up, and i still dont do paids. it really makes no difference. need better balancing, more bug fixes, proper ranking system, more interesting meta, and different game modes.
biggest problem, out of all, is that last patch did not neuter the current meta well enough. meta still sucks.

Unless they seriously get their kitten together and just aim for a game worth playing in time, then draw people back since so few good PvP games are out… its going to be tough for this PvP to go places.
But anyways, at this point though I’d really like to see them fulfilling what they have already talked about doing more than talking more about what they want to do even more… the devs have already said they are planning on working in next to everything, but at this point, with the best of take on the situation, we can only say that their pacing is god awefully slow and tacit when it comes to actually doing it…
A rough rough timeline of what they plan and where they are at with updates would be a billion times better than all the vague promises about perfection I enjoy hearing…

they lack focus, theyre all over the place. they should have left the world as is, and just improved rewards and DE scaling to keep the masses busy. this would have allowed them to focus on their babies, spvp and WvW. both have been horribly neglected, and spvp is as good as dead.
instead, they chose to introduce the gear treadmill, and put it in one dungeon, effectively killing world PVE!
I was really looking forward gw2 being a good pvp game. Unfortunately it failed hard due to bugs, matchmaking issues, class balancing and a lack of variety. When the game was new, I was playing a lot, everything was cool and new etc.. But after this period, it just got more and more boring and frustrating. I started playling less and meanwhile I just stoped. I gave it a short try after Nov 15th patch and stoped again, now just checking the forums sometimes, hoping to find some good news. I’m pretty sure that we will hear something like “oh thanks for all your great feedback guys, we are aware of the issues and are working on it”, but this doesn’t help. Anet has to put much more efforts into developing the spvp part of the game since this is (or at least should be) Anets flagship. Every time I logged in within the last weeks there were less spvp players in the mists as well as in my (primarily spvp) friend’s list. And every day people do not play gw2, the distance to the game is growing. Without any good results in the near future, spvp in this game will cease and hardly recover because ppl are looking for new games.

You mentioned everything that i dont like. I dont like that i am forced to used portal because it is so good. I dont like that im forced to use thief in team comp because of such high mobility. And i do not like that im forced to use an ele for auras. And please stop protection elementalist like it’s life or death ive played it and it’s the best and most op 1-1 spec at the moment. Does anybody know the amount of players logging in now? It’s got to be like maybe 10% of what the game released on. Mists were dead 3 weeks ago (exactly when I gave GW2 a break) since I played so I can only imagine now.

What pro-player? I only see a little whiner, you play one of the most OP professions which rely on AI controlled pets to do 90% of their job and you dare to complain about d/d eles?

I destroy mesmers (paid tournaments) with 13k HP ele burst on 1vs1, stop whining about everything that beats you, the dagger/dagger is the last usable set on eles…but baddies still complainWith what face you speak? Top player you say?..give me a kittening break, get down , people don’t see you through stealth…people learn to adapt against stealth abusing nabs who think of themself as pros.
You even go as far as saying that a profession should be able to attack while dodging..are kittening kidding me dude? What planet are you living on and what profession can attack while dodging?…my ele can’t
Hey if you mention bugs, you should mentions bugs which work in favour of mesmers.
Like the mesmer staff retreat teleport which drop target even though it’s not a stealth move

I´m a bit afraid that we will get only some dodging answers. Someone need to stunlock Jonathan or imobilize him till we get answers and he can´t dodge !!
No seriously.. 3 months from relase. PUG fighs premades, no matchmaking.
The game has its potencial, its great actually, no matter the balance of the casses or maps differences. You can fight and you get lot of motivation and adrenaline going on when fighting in paids and with equall opponents. The problem is.. you get these challenging games only like 1 game from evening.. and as average player i dont have access to play PAID every day – because at the end of tournament i always see same team and almost no chance to defeat it = loosing tickets fast.
I played many fighting games when I was younger, at local arcades, generally against the AI when I was trying to master certain combos and timings, but rarely found good opponents there. This style of play that we are currently in reminds me greatly of those years. . . I never really enjoyed beating up on the weaklings though.
It should be noted I was a much better video game player back then.
I’m not going to say that is the last chance that they are going to have on the interview, but i stop playing (something that i never imagine when i bought this game), certainly is one of the last ones.
I do hope they can make it. But it might already be to late to improve it.
I quit a while ago, I don’t think anyone gives a kitten about that but either way I won’t come back until after they fixed the myriads of broken stuff currently in sPvP. Promises won’t really cut it, I suspect that the discussion won’t even bring about any real answers or promises but who knows.

While I understand your point, you should try to understand my frustation, if you’d be an ele player from the start of this game development, you’d realize that the ele community is left with nothing else than a single weapon set as the rest has been nerfed to the ground , to a point where you cannot even seriously consider in using them.
Everytime some “player” start crying on a forum, the ele does get not nerfed but literally destroyed.
Look at scepter focus, when the game first come out , that was the most talked set for eles, but because of complaints from people who didn’t even tried the game, that weapon set got nerfed behinh its original scope:
1) Dragon’s tooth changed from fast ground target skill to the cartoon like parody skill which is now, where you can go and take a coffie, come back and the dragon’s tooth still need to land -_-
2) Phoenix from the the dmg+healing fast travel projectile at 15s CD to the 20s CD slow moving -matrix style – projectile
3) Shatterstone changed from the decent dmg status to the ridicolously useless skill which is now
4) Auto-attack dmg reduced by over 70% on all weapon sets( fireball dmg from 2k using a full powered ele to the current version of 600 dmg with a 30 fire ele)
And the list goes on and on, there was a time even staff was good and not the PvE only weapon which is now, I’m really tired of how this game balance is handled, nerfs are given out without actual testing and based on the comment of clueless players.
These “pro” players whine about ele tanks d/d lol, I use a 13k HP ele and still destroy people: champion illusionist-champion shadow-paid tournament whatever you mention and you know why?
It’s because I played this profession from the start, there was a time where I was getting destroyed 100 times over 100 attempts , but rather than jump on the (lol) mesmer/thief/guardian bandwagon I sticked to the profession and now…r45/championmagus/10 QP, people see me alone on a point ( while having 13k HP) and run away or call for help before even trying.

Just go in the ele sub-forum and try to find a “whine thread” about other professions, there are no whiners in the ele community, only people who like to put efforts in things and get the rewards, if now those who preferred the “easy ride” get destroyed by those eles well….it’s not the game balance kittening problem and Anet must realize this.
im not an expert on ele class.. but considering Elementalist has its place in almost every team composition and also taking in account that i do see regullary D/D builds, S/D builds and also staff builds.. i would say that ele is one of the most balanced classess right now. Hell even more versatile class considering it has nice dmg output + cleansing + healing + enough CC + best combo fields + most AOE in game.
But i might be wrong of course.
u just need a good build on ele and some practise just like in every other class really

No they nerfed the water 15 minor trait by 50% on healing output and removed the blast finisher from EA so that now a “bunker” ele can get killed easily by any decent player even on his own, not like a guardian where even sending a good player is not enough..you still need at least one more person.
The problem with ele is that all weapon sets should be able to switch role on the fly regardless of your runes or jewels, with d/d you can do that as long as you have at least 15 water you can heal your allies consistently but with the staff…
As you can’t stay on the frontline with a staff because you become an obvious target with your 13k HP and slow attacks, 13k HP because as support staff you want to maximise healing right?! But by that time I don’t see reason for a top team to pick a staff ele over a necro/mesmer support..sorry the time of staff eles is over.
That’s leave us with d/d ..or s/d if you like to lose: shocking aura-frozen burst-ring of earth-dragon’s breath-burning speed only to use dragon’s tooth and phoenix which earh requiring 3s to hit targets( unless you play at mele range and at that point I see no reason to play s/d over d/d)

I probably would have felt better if the reason they state for reducing the minor healing output (and certain other skills), simply by saying that they felt it is overpowered, rather than attempting to justify the change by saying it was the original intention to have it at the fixed state.
this is not about ele!
when u already have the DPS needed for burst down targets i still can see a support staff ele against condi teamcomp and support ele is a good stomper too :p(and still good for kill treb!!)

I have one question though, how do you rate yourself ‘’a top NA Mesmer’’ when there’s no ranking system? It just sounds extremely douchy to me.
If you are top in QP = you have very high win% → you are good
nobody can win a paid if your not completly destroying 99,99% of other players in 1vs1 or xvsx… +your team has better synergy than 99,99% of other teams
QP = SKILL
Why does everyone think they are so entitled? The game has been out for 6 months, its still a baby! Give them some time. No mmo in history is perfect when it releases. I understand your frustrations, but be patient.

The problem is not with the “listening” it is with the “fixing”. On the 15th the loading loop bug returned. Every tournament since then we have had a member or two have to reload during play. This morning 4/5 of our team members had to reload during tournament vs a team with 3 thieves and two bunkers..
This bug drastically alters TPvP and yet has made it 15 days now for something that should have been hot patched on the same day. PvP is BROKEN.. What happened to the GW team that did constant hot patches during release for a lot more minor issues?

I am sorry to inform everyone but the livestream will not happen but it will be a video released by gw2guru.
dont hold your breaths guys. “theyre thankful for the feedback, theyre aware of the issues, and theyre working on it. more info when it’s ready!” it’s the same broken record since the game came out. id like to hear an announcement like “we’re hiring 15 more staff to help us roll out pvp updates faster.” anything else will be kinda meh.
