u cant just go all in.. try to wear them down. ( using SB more )
kite minions, avoid CC, immo

while moving minions dont follow up fast enough though you can go all it in that window.

MM: Pull out your shortbow and range him. If he tries to attack you press #3.

DD Ele- Play ele for a couple months. Lol as you avoid every thing he has. Interrupt ether renewal. Save burst and cc for after he LEAVES water attune.

for mm, keep your shortbow and kill entire zoo by autoattacking. the arrow, will keep bouncing between minions and clean up entire zoo shortly. most likely they will be advancing on you, so you’ll have to keep retreating with strafe and shortbow 3. occasionally you can also use sb #2 or #4. not sure about sb#5 but given situation, can do that too (especially if z axis opportunity).

once you clean up zoo, go all in with usual d/p burst. keep an eye on re-summoning, but those can be interrupted. most likely he will be dead before any new minions appear.

thief shortbow (because of bounces) and engi grenades are some of best counters for mm.

This. Unless they got a good decapper that constantly keep your home decapped you can just let him sit there. Your team will always have the upper hand on mid because of him, meaning you should win the match.

But if we are talking a 1v1 scenario; auto attack with shortbow, drop poison field and blast it with cluster bomb. Once you got his minions down and on cd you can just do your thing with him.

But if this is in tPvP and he are sitting on a point owned by his team, don’t engage him alone. That’s (usually) not beneficial for your team.

Blindspam.

You disable Jagged Horrors/Bone Minion/Flesh Golem/Shadow Fiend from attacking and you disable the Necromancer from making marks and attacking.

If something goes bad, just stealth away.

5x Warrior, 5x Ranger, 4x Elementalist, 4x Engineer,
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant

Depends on their build but if they are hybrid with axe and dagger don’t even try alone he will hard counter you. I got the phantom title…
My best advice is try to avoid the minnions. Some places they stop attacking completely. On Battle of Kyhlo you can jump out the window and the minnions will actually go downstairs and run all the way around to get you. Then you can go in and they will start walking back so in theory they can never hit you.
There are some slopes where minnions stop attacking as well.
Killing the minions then engage is usually not worth the effort. You will have a easier time against the necro yes. But they can take a lot of damage and if you kill them in melee they can blow up if traited for it. the necro can instantly summon the minnions that die so you would have to kill them 2 times. So you’re best option is just to zerg him down. Remember necros are slow they cant escape use that to you’re advantage.
In a teamfight if they are tanky which means they get 40k hp in total with deathshroud the biggest mistake you can do is focus him first (In a teamfight 3v3etc ).

Steal their boons right after their might combo from Fire -> Earth. Then you will get 25 stacks of might and crit them for 14k backstab.

Always use your teleport right after an Updraft knock back (and see that they switch to fire). If you dodge that big burst, the Ele will have to go to defensive mode while you burst them down.

Tbh, Ele is one of the easiest class to beat when you understand their mechanics and limitations. It’s pretty hard for them to workaround their limitations, and you will have the upperhand. The key thing is to steal their boons in Earth, and burst when they have just used their heal in water, or switched out of Water. Dodge the burst in Fire, and range it when they are in Air (so you can watch the RTL and dodge it). Most Ele has a set of rotation between attunement, and you can easily predict which attunement they are going next

Normally Air → Fire → Earth → Water → repeat.

Gray out the HP for future condition damage
Already quit PvP. Just log in here and there to troll.

I should try a Trickery build. Although Acrobatics gives some super-awesome condi control and the Might on dodge is amazing too.

Seem to happen randomly i got it sometimes on the treb on battle khylo they just get stuck on the slope there and do nothing. While im fighting alone on the treb they just wait there pretty anoying. However not 100% how you can do that.
There is a fountain close to one of their nodes you can run around it and range the necro minnions cant hit you.
Minnions can’t jump obviously so when fighting mm stand on roofs or crates and kill them with clusterbomb. Bone fiend and blood fiend could still hit you sometimes but they are the weakest.

Simply put, minions can’t jump. So any terrain you have to jump to get over, the minions have to walk around. On the center point in Khylo, this means if you’re fighting an MM, then go out the window, the only way for the minions to get to you is to walk all the way outside, up the outer scaffolding, and up to you. So walk out the window, wait for them to start walking outside, jump in, hit the MM a bunch, go out the other window, repeat.

Which in general is the only way a dagger thief should ever beat an MM is by abusing their AI. Otherwise no self-respecting MM should lose that matchup 1v1.

Ah I get it now. Maybe ‘slopes’ was the wrong word as I took it as any ramp (other then the bug Tom mentions). Good inform though. Time to make AI work against thier owner ;-) (because I’m sure this will will work with BM rangers too)

Ive never played as a thief in Spvp, but i dont think Ele should be a problem for any spec. They are very boon dependent, if you can take it out and watch the water atunement, you shouldnt have problems. For me, eles are the easiest class to defeat.

I got the phantom title…the biggest mistake you can do is focus him first (In a teamfight 3v3etc ).

Focusing an MM is indeed an awful decision. They have a minimum of 20k HP (often more like 27k) plus deathshroud, 3k armor, and around half of their utility is based on minions, most of which have instant-cast abilities. So by focusing the MM, you’re actually still allowing around half of the MMs effectiveness (minions) to do their thing, while taking a long time to kill a very tanky build.

They are more difficult now yes but the tactics to beating them remain the same.
